Si parla di scultura e delle sue qualità innovative spesso anticipatrici degli stessi moduli della pittura.
Si parte dal ‘400, in area appenninica, a Bologna, con Niccolo Dell’Arca. Poco distante, a Modena, un’interessante mostra “Emozioni in terracotta” presenta un itinerario sulla scultura in terracotta tra ‘400 e ‘500 attraverso due dei suoi massimi esponenti, Guido Mazzoni e Antonio Begarelli.

Qui emerge un mondo, espressionista e verista che sembra discendere da modelli d’oltralpe; a Modena oggi come allora confluiva la via del Brennero che porta al mondo germanico. Particolarmente interessante è la vicenda di Begarelli, che nelle contraddizioni della questione visiva in piena metà del Cinquecento, indovina e anticipa i tempi dimostrando come la scultura possa essere un terreno d’avanguardia per l’immaginario successivo. Anche un artista di un’epoca successiva, vissuto tra ‘600 e ‘700, Andrea Brustolon, oggetto di una mostra, questa volta a Belluno presso Palazzo Crepadona, con la propria pratica scultorea sembra voler precedere le evoluzioni possibili della pittura, mescolandone i contenuti.
