Seit Jahrzehnten betreut Errol Babbage im Auftrag der Justiz und auf
eigenwillige Weise entlassene Sittenstrolche und hat im Laufe der Zeit ein
untrügliches Gespür dafür entwickelt, welcher seiner Schützlingen wieder
auffällig wird. Nun muss er nach der x-ten Beschwerde seinen Schreibtisch
räumen (\'die Belästiger fühlten sich belästigt\') und hat nur 18 Tage Zeit,
seine sehr junge und schöne Nachfolgerin einzuarbeiten. Ausgerechnet jetzt
kommt es zu einer Entführung, von der nur Babbage glaubt, sie aufklären zu
können.

Richard Gere ist der manische Ermittler mit Hang zur Selbstjustiz, und
Claire \'Julia\' Danes spielt seine zutiefst eingeschüchterte Schülerin in
diesem nicht von ungefähr an das Lecter/Starling-Szenario gemahnenden
Serienkillerthriller, stilvoll und in aller gebührenden Eiseskälte inszeniert
vom chinesischen Regisseur Wai Keung-Lau, seines Zeichens eine Hälfte jenes
Duos, das uns \'Infernal Affairs\' brachte. Intensive Gewaltakte, nervenzerrende
Verfolgungsjagden und Avril Lavigne als Gaststar lassen bei hartgesottenen
Genrefan wenig Wünsche offen.
