Shepherd (Ed Lauter), have been stranded on a deserted planet light years away from any help. The bugs force the troopers to take refuge in an abandoned outpost in the middle of nowhere. Inside, they find an abandoned trooper, Dax (Richard Burgi), from another unit locked in the boiler room for the murder of his former commanding officer. Knowing they will need his help, the troopers free him. Not too long afterwards problems only seem to get more complicated as it is discovered the bugs now have the ability to infect and take over humans. Now the real threat is now about to emerge from within... Il film inizia con gli insetti che costringono i soldati a ritirarsi in un piccolo avamposto non pi?? operativo, aspettando i rinforzi. All'interno dell'avamposto viene trovato un comandante che sar?? uno dei protagonisti principali del film. A distanza di un giorno una parte della compagnia che era stata spaccata in due gia dal primo combattimento contro gli insetti fa ritorno all' avamposto, portando con se tre nuovi soldati, trovati nelle vicinanze. In realt?? questi nuovi tre elementi di umano hanno poco e piano piano cominciano a infettare parte della compagnia, fino a quando qualcuno comincia ad insospettirsi degli strani comportamenti tenuti dai soldati. Ma ormai ?? troppo tardi, e non c'?? pi?? tempo per difendersi. Arrivano i soccorsi con l'elicottero, che riescono a salvare i pochi rimasti. Il comandante rimane a morire permettendo cosi la fuga dell' elicottero.
