Cassandra Wilson (born December 3, 1955) is an American jazz musician, vocalist, songwriter, and producer from Jackson, Mississippi. She has won two Grammy Awards. Like many jazz musicians Wilson???s formal musical education consisted of classical lessons; she studied piano from the age of six to thirteen and played clarinet in the middle school concert and marching bands. When she tired of this training, she asked her father to teach her the guitar. Instead, he gave her a lesson in self-reliance???some Mel Bay method books. She explored the instrument on her own, developing what she has described as an ???intuitive??? approach. During this time she began writing her own songs, adopting a folk style. She also appeared in the musical theater productions, including The Wizard of Oz as Dorothy , crossing racial lines in a recently desegregated school system. For college, Wilson attended Millsaps College and Jackson State University. She graduated with a degree in mass communications. Outside of the classroom, the busy student spent her nights working with R&B, funk, and pop cover bands, also singing in local coffeehouses. The Black Arts Music Society, founded by John Reese and Alvin Fielder, provided her with her first opportunities to perform bebop. In 1981, she moved to New Orleans for a position as assistant public affairs director for the local television station, WDSU. She did not stay long. Working with mentors who included elder statesmen Earl Turbinton, Alvin Batiste, and Ellis Marsalis, Wilson found encouragement to seriously pursue jazz performance and moved to the New York City area the following year.

Direttamente da Hong Kong sbarca sui lidi italiani (purtroppo direttamente in dvd, senza essere passato attraverso le sale cinematografiche) So Close, un sorprendente film che diverte e affascina.

Due sorelle e una poliziotta
Due sorelle assistono alla morte dei genitori per mano di alcuni killer: in seguito vengono iniziate alla professione di assassine proprio da uno dei sicari, pentitosi dell\'atrocità commessa. Shortly... tempo diventano tra le migliori professioniste nel settore, grazie ad un\'eccellente padronanza delle tecniche più spettacolari ed efficaci delle arti marziali in combinazione con un innovativo programma (ideato dal padre) in grado di infiltrarsi e controllare qualsiasi sistema di sorveglianza a livello mondiale.
Grazie a queste capacità riescono ad intrufolarsi in un grattacielo super protetto e uccidere il malvagio Chow.
In seguito a quest\'ultima operazione, tuttavia, la situazione comincia a precipitare. Le due sorelle litigano tra loro perchè una vorrebbe abbandonare tutto e sposarsi mentre l\'altra non è d\'accordo. Un\'ostinata poliziotta si mette sulle loro tracce mentre il loro ultimo mandante decide di eliminarle, per far sparire scomode testimoni...

Tre bellezze in azione
La Plot è poco più che funzionale a sparatorie e pestaggi e ricorda molto da vicino quella di un manga, con molta azione ma personaggi stereotipati e, in qualche modo, prevedibili.
La pellicola è targata Hong Kong ma i capitali sono americani e quel che ne segue è un film impeccabile, molto high tech, con splendide scenografie dei combattimenti (e le tre bellissime protagoniste riescono ad apparire molto credibili nel loro ruolo) ed effetti speciali che fYears impallidire quanto visto in analoghi prodotti europei. D\'altronde nel film va perso parte di quello spirito cinese tipico dei film di Hong Kong, trasparendo fin troppo evidentemente la volontà di girare un prodotto in grado di essere apprezzato ovunque, in oriente come in occidente.
Le tre protagoniste sono comunque un bel vedere: Karen Mok è una cantante-attrice molto famosa in patria (interpreta anche le belle canzoni del film), Hsu Qi è un\'ex modella mentre Vicki Zhao è un\'emergente irresistibilmente carina!
Davvero bella anche la colonna sonora, specie le canzoni interpretate dalla Mok...

Azione cinese
Un impeccabile film d\'azione con tre stupende protagoniste: non sarà un capolavoro a livello di Plot, ma le scene d\'azione sono splendide mentre gli effetti speciali e l\'ambientazione high tech ne rappresentano il valore aggiunto. Un film divertente e rilassante, cosa desiderare di più?

Azione, sentimento, tecnologia e una bella ambientazione.
Un film non impegnativo, sicuramente da vedere.

Eliane Elias ?? soprattutto una grande pianista jazz. Negli ultimi anni per?? si diletta anche a cantare soprattutto canzoni del suo paese d'origine, il Brasile. Eliane non ha grandissimi mezzi vocali, la sua ?? un'estensione vocale limitata ma dalla grande musicalit??. C'?? amore, passione, intelligenza nella sua interpretazione.
