Episode #3: The Trap Original Airdate: 27 Sep 1974 Burke and his arch enemy, the gorilla soldier Urko, must work together to survive when an earthquake traps them in the ancient ruins of a subway station in Old San Francisco. Virdon and Galen get the ape soldiers to cooperate in a rescue. Meanwhile in a tunnel, Urko goes ape when he sees an old zoo poster showing caged apes being fed peanuts. Episode #4: The Good Seeds Original Airdate: 04 Oct 1974 When Galen is wounded, Galen and the astronauts seek shelter at the farm of a peasant ape whose son believes that the humans have put a curse on their one precious possession--a cow, which goes into a difficult labor to give birth to twins. While they win their hosts over by teaching them valuable lessons about farming and saving the cow. Episode #5: The Legacy Original Airdate: 11 Oct 1974 In a ruined city, the astronauts find a filmed message from scientists of their own era. If they can elude gorilla pursuers long enough to repair the ancient projector, the film will tell them why their world was destroyed. They are aided in part by a young woman, Arn, and a street urchin, Kraik. Episode #6: Tomorrow's Tide Original Airdate: 18 Oct 1974 When the astronauts are captured by the chimp head in a fishing village employing human slave labor, they must prove their worth as fishermen or be sacrificed to the gods of the sea. Episode #7: The Surgeon Original Airdate: 25 Oct 1974 After Virdon is shot and seriously injured in an escape from gorilla soldiers, Galen enlists the reluctant aid of a chimpanzee surgeon Kira, who was once his sweetheart. Episode #8: The Deception Original Airdate: 01 Nov 1974 While hunting a band of murderous ape dragoons, Burke becomes teh object of the affections of a blind female ape, Fauna, who is unaware that he is human. Episode #9: The Horse Race Original Airdate: 08 Nov 1974 Under Urko's very nose, Virdon manages to run a horse race, winnning, as part of the stakes, the life of a blacksmith's young son. Episode #10: The Interrogation Original Airdate: 15 Nov 1974 Captured by simian pursuers, Burke faces two equally menacing possibilities: The gorilla Urko wants to kill him, and the orangutan ruler Zaius wants to use him in a brain washing experiment. Galen and Virdon work out a rescue plan with the help of Galen's parents, Ann and Yalu. Episode #11: The Tyrant Original Airdate: 22 Nov 1974 The fugitives are trying to foil the plans of a tyrannical ape, who is using bribery to gain total control over a district of human farmers. Alan is badly wounded but the other two get him to cover and evade the patrol. Their only option is to take Alan to the best medical facility on the planet, at Central City. Galen knows the chief surgeon and claims she wouldn&#915;ÇÖt refuse to help them. He notes they were to get married but things didn&#915;ÇÖt work out, but they&#915;ÇÖre still friends. Galen goes to see her over Alan&#915;ÇÖs objections. At the hospital, the chief surgeon Leander congratulates Kira on the success of her operation, despite the fact that patient died. She isn&#915;ÇÖt very happy with the results and he tries to cheer her up by asking her to a private dinner. She accepts but when she goes into her office she finds Galen waiting for her with a flower. She tells him to leave and it&#915;ÇÖs clear she knows all about his problems with the ape authorities. He goes to leave but she asks what happened and he manages to get through to her so she agrees to help. Galen returns to the cave with disguises, and then they steal a wagon after disposing of the gorilla guard. Kira meets with Leander for supper and it&#915;ÇÖs clear he doesn&#915;ÇÖt think much of humans. Galen arrives and she goes to get him and Galen talks about how his servant was injured. Leander watches from above and wonders. Pete takes Alan to the human quarters and has to fight to get Alan a private room, invoking Galen&#915;ÇÖs authority. Galen meets with Kira who warns that all of their medical books deal with apes. She doesn&#915;ÇÖt know enough about human anatomy to operate safely. Galen suggests he can get a book on human anatomy&#915;Ǫ a human book, from Zaius&#915;ÇÖ collection. Alan rambles in his fever, talking about how the apes are in command, and the head human orderly Travin overhears. Galen tells him to leave but they&#915;ÇÖre interrupted when they hear a woman&#915;ÇÖs scream. A human, Lafer, is attacking the woman, Arna, and Pete disposes of her attacker, Lather. Travin says anyone can discipline the girl, his daughter, is evil and must be punished. Urko interrogates the gorilla that Pete and Galen subdued and tells him to keep quiet about who attacked him. Urko then concludes that Galena and the others are heading back and cancels his trip to stay in Central City a few days. Galena and Pete take a wagon to Zaius&#915;ÇÖ house and get by the guards while claiming he&#915;ÇÖs had a heart attack, while Kira tends to Alan. Kira admits that she&#915;ÇÖs only operating to learn something for her own patients, but Alan wonders if that&#915;ÇÖs the only reason. She flies into a fury at the thought that Alan has endangered Galen by forcing in him there. Pete and Galen go into Zaius&#915;ÇÖ house and get the books, then take it out on a stretcher by covering it with a blanket and using a bust of Zaius and some pillows to make it appear they&#915;ÇÖre taking him out. They get back to the clinic where Kira is astonished at the fact that humans once had advanced medical knowledge. They&#915;ÇÖre interrupted when Alan goes back into a fever as Kira and Galen look on. Kira warns that the bullet has moved closer to a nerve and they have no idea of doing blood transfusion. She notes the one time they tried, the patient died. Pete realizes that the death was the result of a blood mismatch and they need to run a test for a suitable donor. All of the humans give samples except for Arna. Travin refuses and Pete warns that the odds of coming up with a donor are slim and they need to test everyone. Galen overrides Travin and Pete asks the girl to help, managing to win her trust. They run the blood tests and determine there are only two donors, Lafer and Arna. Lafer has run off in fear and Arna refuses. Travin forces her to explain that she was the one who gave blood in the experiment, and that the human who died was her brother. Pete tries to explain that the brother died due to a blood mismatch and it&#915;ÇÖs safe for Alan. Father and daughter agree and Kira begins the operation. However, Leander arrives and they quickly hide the book. Galen spins a tale of how Alan was accidentally shot and now Kira is going to try an experimental process that could then be applied to apes. Impressed, Leander asks to watch the operation and notices the book. The operation proceeds and when Pete starts to give advice, Leander demands to see the book. He tries to leave but Galen holds him at scalpel point and Kira insists that the book exists and she plans to use it. Urko investigates the theft at Zaius&#915;ÇÖ house and realizes that a book is missing. Zaius identifies it as a book of surgery and Urko leaves to go to the clinic. The surgery is going well until the anesthesia affects Alan&#915;ÇÖs heart and he stops breathing. Leander helps to revive him and Kira removes the bullet. Urko barges in demanding answers and Leander goes down to confront him. He says that the humans fled because the hospital has plague victims, and Urko and his men beat a hasty retreat. Leander goes back and explains that he helped the humans so that Kira wouldn&#915;ÇÖt be arrested, and he still wants to keep the book. They load up Alan on a plague wagon and say their farewells and Travin promises to make things up with his daughter when he returns from taking them down the road.
