Dalla strana unione di una demone degli inferi con un angelo del cielo nasce una creatura, che ovviamente racchiude una metà di sangue demoniaco e una metà di sangue angelico, dominata da conflitti interiori riguardo la propria identità e la propria immagine. Dotato di ali da angelo e volto da demone questa povera creatura vaga per le diverse dimensioni dell’Aldilà fino a che qualcuno più grande di lui lo etichetta come un obbrobrio considerandolo figlio dell’infedeltà e imprigionandolo per l’eternità all’interno di una gabbia nel Purgatorio sorvegliata costantemente da una bestia immonda. Arrivò il giorno in cui questa creatura si liberò dalla sua prigionia, sfogando la propria furia contro quella bestia che per lungo tempo aveva avuto davanti. Ottenuta la libertà il suo cammino dovrà passare attraverso molti luoghi sconosciuti del Purgatorio per vendicarsi definitivamente contro il responsabile della sua lunga e infelice prigionia.
Questo è il pretesto narrativo col quale comincia la seconda espansione di un famoso gioco di qualche anno fa, Painkiller, che vide già una prima espansione, Battle Out of Hell, che però ripercorreva la storia di un semplice umano morto in un incidente stradale e pronto a sfidare il re degli inferi.
DreamCatcher dunque ritorna con questa nuova espansione stand-alone, Painkiller Overdose, che accoglie un nuovo protagonista e qualche chicca in più.

This is similar to Free For All except all players have a set numbers of lives. The object of this mode is to last player with lives left.

Everyone starts out with the same weapon. There are no other weapons on the map but, at preset intervals, everyone\'s weapon is switched to a different weapon.

[b]The Light Bearer:[/b]
In this variation, there is one Rage (4x damage) power-up available. The first player who grabs it continues to use it until he is killed, at which point it is once again up for grabs.
