Genau dieses Gef�hl wollte THQ jedenfalls vermitteln, als der Publisher ein paar Dutzend Journalisten zur Hot Import Night nach San Diego einflog, damit Jamie Campbell von Juice Games den Nachfolger seines Need for Speed-Konkurrenten vorstellen konnte. Etliche PS-Bastler parken dort ihren ganzen Stolz auf einem riesigen Parkplatz, �ffnen Motorhaube und Kofferraum, um zu zeigen, was in ihren Kisten drin steckt. Denn darum geht es den Hobby-Mechanikern: Wer kann am schnellsten, sch�nsten, lautesten. Nebenan brettern Profi-Fahrer haarscharf am Publikum vorbei, um zu zeigen, was ein cooler Drift ist. Kein Wunder, dass der dritte "The Fast and the Furious" den Untertitel "Tokyo Drift" trug - schlie�lich wurden die Japaner nach dem ersten Fast and Furious so verr�ckt nach getunten Serienwagen und

Dass ihr im Spiel Rennen um Kohle und Platzierung austragt, obwohl die realen Wagen nie auf der Strecke gegeneinander antreten, erkl�rt Jamie Campbell so: "Man investiert unglaublich viel Zeit, um seinen Wagen aufzur�sten - warum sollte man ihn nicht in ein Rennen schicken." Also erschafft ihr ein weibliches oder m�nnliches Alter Ego, bastelt mit dem komfortablen Editor an �u�erlichkeiten und schon steht ihr am Start. Zus�tzlichen Druck k�nnt ihr euch genau wie im Vorg�nger durch den Abschluss einer Wette schaffen: Fordert einen Kontrahenten heraus und legt den Einsatz fest. Falls der Gegner annimmt, m�sst ihr besser abschneiden, um den Einsatz zur�ckzuholen. Im besten Fall gewinnt ihr einen neuen Wagen; im schlimmsten Fall steht ein Besuch im Autohaus an.

Ideenklau

Anders als im ersten Teil wollen die Entwickler diesmal vor allem das Drift-Spektakel der Hot Import Nights ins Rampenlicht r�cken. Und so m�sst ihr neben Stra�en-Rennen auch spezielle Veranstaltungen besuchen, in denen ihr nur mit quer stehenden Vorderreifen Punkte sammelt. Der Zieleinlauf spielt keine Rolle; ihr m�sst lediglich eine bestimmte Anzahl Punkte sammeln. Kombiniertes Rechts-Links-Rechts-Schlittern erh�ht dabei euren Multiplikator. Was besonders in den Drift-Veranstaltungen auff�llt, ist erneut die gesunde Mischung aus Simulation und unkompliziertem Fahrverhalten. F�r die Schlitter-Partien w�hlt das Spiel zwar den realit�tsfernen Weg und schaltet von dem stabilen Fahrverhalten der normalen Rennen einfach auf "kommt bei jedem Lenkradeinschlag ins Rutschen". Daf�r m�sst ihr gef�hlvoll mit Lenkrad, Gas und Bremse umgehen, falls ihr nicht alle zehn Meter mit dem Heck die Begrenzungsmauer touchieren und eure gesammelten Punkte verlieren wollt.

Prinzipiell lassen sich die Wagen in allen Rennen zwar recht einfach um die Kurse lenken, doch wer seinen Boliden im Grenzbereich bewegt, braucht K�nnen, um ohne Kratzer die Bande zu passieren. Zumal die Gegner nicht nur Rennpappe fahren, sondern vom Start weg hart um den Sieg k�mpfen. Ich f�hle mich in Juiced 2 jedenfalls besser aufgehoben als beim anspruchslosen Need for Speed. Auf ein echtes Schadensmodell verzichten die Entwickler trotzdem: Ihr werdet zwar Sch�den sehen, doch aufs Fahrverhalten hat das keine Auswirkungen. "Um Realismus geht es in unserem Spiel nicht. In Juiced geht es darum, mit K�nnen und Stil zu fahren", sagt Campbell. Ebenfalls aus der Arcade-Ecke holen die Entwickler das Einsch�chtern der Vorderm�nner. Das funktioniert �hnlich wie in SCAR , wo ihr einfach lange genug einem Gegner auf die Pelle r�cken m�sst, um ihn in einen Fehler zu zwingen. Eine cooler Ideenklau - auch wenn mir das pl�tzliche Wegrutschen der Kontrahenten zu mechanisch wirkt, um als gelungene Belohnung durchzugehen.

Rom, Japan und der Eifelturm

Dass Juice Games den Schwerpunkt auf coole Rennen legt, spiegelt sich auch in den Schaupl�tzen wider, denn sobald ihr z.B. um den Eifelturm driftet, seid ihr nicht auf realem Asphalt unterwegs. Stattdessen schl�ngelt sich eine auf Pfeilern erbaute Stra�e um die Sehensw�rdigkeit. Ebenso auf den Kursen in Japan, England,

Australien, den Alpen oder der Rundfahrt durchs r�mische Kolosseum. Und sp�testens dort, wo man in Tokio an greller Neonreklame vorbei durch die Nacht donnert oder wenn junge M�dels im Hauptmen� das Tanzbein schwingen, wird klar, wie wichtig den Entwicklern die Hot Import Nights-Lizenz ist. Die Figuren, ganz besonders gegnerische Fahrer, wirken im Vergleich zu ihren blitzenden Vierr�dern zwar matt und leblos, aber sei's drum: Auf die inneren Werte kommt es an. Und die lest ihr direkt von der DNS ab - der Fahrer-DNS, wohl gemerkt. Denn die speichert das Fahrverhalten von euch, euren Kontrahenten und euren Kumpels ab. Das hei�t z.B., dass ihr nicht einfach die schnellste Runde eines Freundes herunterladen und gegen seinen Ghost antreten werdet. Stattdessen erhaltet ihr die DNS und sobald ihr einen Ghost mit dieser DNS ins Rennen holt, f�hrt er mit dem Stil, den euer Kumpel in den Asphalt brennt. So beschreibt es Campbell jedenfalls, denn wir waren w�hrend der Vorf�hrung ausschlie�lich solo unterwegs.

Ob on- oder offline; ihr fahrt also normale Rennen, seid schlitternd unterwegs und pflegt eure Desoxyribonukleins�ure. Alles sch�n und gut, aber worum ging es bei den Hot Import Nights noch gleich? Richtig: Tunen, lackieren, vorf�hren! Und damit habt ihr alle H�nde voll zu tun. Schlie�lich taugen gew�hnliche Stra�enschlitten h�chstens zum Mitfahren - ein Platz auf dem Podest ist nur mit gepimptem Motor und tiefer gelegten Felgen drin. In Juiced erwartet euch zwar wenig Neues, allerdings d�rft ihr unz�hlige Teile aussuchen und einbauen. Von den f�nfzig Lackschichten, die ihr auftragen k�nnt, mal ganz abgesehen. Genau dieses Gef�hl wollte THQ jedenfalls vermitteln, als der Publisher ein paar Dutzend Journalisten zur Hot Import Night nach San Diego einflog, damit Jamie Campbell von Juice Games den Nachfolger seines Need for Speed- Konkurrenten vorstellen konnte. Etliche PS-Bastler parken dort ihren ganzen Stolz auf einem riesigen Parkplatz, �ffnen Motorhaube und Kofferraum, um zu zeigen, was in ihren Kisten drin steckt. Denn darum geht es den Hobby-Mechanikern: Wer kann am schnellsten, sch�nsten, lautesten. Nebenan brettern Profi-Fahrer haarscharf am Publikum vorbei, um zu zeigen, was ein cooler Drift ist. Kein Wunder, dass der dritte "The Fast and the Furious" den Untertitel "Tokyo Drift" trug - schlie�lich wurden die Japaner nach dem ersten Fast and Furious so verr�ckt nach getunten
Serienwagen und Serienwagen gekauft, Schraubenschl�ssel gedreht, Gas gegeben: So stellt THQ die Tuning-Szene vor. hei�em �ber-den-Asphalt-Schlittern, dass sie die aktuelle Tuning-Welle erst ins Rollen brachten. Jetzt schwappt der Trend zur�ck auf amerikanisches Pflaster - und genau dieses Flair will Juiced 2 einfangen.
Dass ihr im Spiel Rennen um Kohle und Platzierung austragt, obwohl die realen Wagen nie auf der Strecke gegeneinander antreten, erkl�rt Jamie Campbell so: "Man investiert unglaublich viel Zeit, um seinen Wagen aufzur�sten -
warum sollte man ihn nicht in ein Rennen schicken." Also erschafft ihr ein weibliches oder m�nnliches Alter Ego, bastelt mit dem komfortablen Editor an �u�erlichkeiten und schon steht ihr am Start. Zus�tzlichen Druck k�nnt ihr euch genau wie im Vorg�nger durch den Abschluss einer Wette schaffen: Fordert einen Kontrahenten heraus und legt den Einsatz fest. Falls der Gegner annimmt, m�sst ihr besser abschneiden, um den Einsatz zur�ckzuholen. Im besten Fall gewinnt ihr einen neuen Wagen; im schlimmsten Fall steht ein Besuch im Autohaus an.

Ideenklau

Anders als im ersten Teil wollen die Entwickler diesmal vor allem das Drift-Spektakel der Hot Import Nights ins Rampenlicht r�cken. Und so m�sst ihr neben Stra�en-Rennen auch spezielle Veranstaltungen besuchen, in denen ihr
nur mit quer stehenden Vorderreifen Punkte sammelt. Der Zieleinlauf spielt keine Rolle; ihr m�sst lediglich eine bestimmte Anzahl Punkte sammeln. Kombiniertes Rechts-Links-Rechts-Schlittern erh�ht dabei euren Multiplikator. Was besonders in den Drift-Veranstaltungen auff�llt, ist erneut die gesunde Mischung aus Simulation und unkompliziertem Fahrverhalten. F�r die Schlitter-Partien w�hlt das Spiel zwar den realit�tsfernen Weg und schaltet von dem stabilen Fahrverhalten der normalen Rennen einfach auf "kommt bei jedem Lenkradeinschlag ins Rutschen". Daf�r m�sst ihr gef�hlvoll mit Lenkrad, Gas und Bremse umgehen, falls ihr nicht alle zehn Meter mit dem Heck die Begrenzungsmauer touchieren und eure gesammelten Punkte verlieren wollt. Prinzipiell lassen sich die Wagen in allen Rennen zwar recht einfach um die Kurse lenken, doch wer seinen Boliden im Grenzbereich bewegt, braucht K�nnen, um ohne Kratzer die Bande zu passieren. Zumal die Gegner nicht nur
Rennpappe fahren, sondern vom Start weg hart um den Sieg k�mpfen. Ich f�hle mich in Juiced 2 jedenfalls besser aufgehoben als beim anspruchslosen Need for Speed. Auf ein echtes Schadensmodell verzichten die Entwickler trotzdem: Ihr werdet zwar Sch�den sehen, doch aufs Fahrverhalten hat das keine Auswirkungen. "Um Realismus geht es in unserem Spiel nicht. In Juiced geht es darum, mit K�nnen und Stil zu fahren", sagt Campbell. Ebenfalls aus der

Arcade-Ecke holen die Entwickler das Einsch�chtern der Vorderm�nner. Das funktioniert �hnlich wie in SCAR , wo ihr einfach lange genug einem Gegner auf die Pelle r�cken m�sst, um ihn in einen Fehler zu zwingen. Eine cooler Ideenklau
auch wenn mir das pl�tzliche Wegrutschen der Kontrahenten zu mechanisch wirkt, �um als gelungene Belohnung durchzugehen.

Rom, Japan und der Eifelturm

Dass Juice Games den Schwerpunkt auf coole Rennen legt, spiegelt sich auch in den Schaupl�tzen wider, denn sobald ihr z.B. um den Eifelturm driftet, seid ihr nicht auf realem Asphalt unterwegs. Stattdessen schl�ngelt sich eine auf Pfeilern erbaute Stra�e um die Sehensw�rdigkeit. Ebenso auf den Kursen in Japan, England,

Und die lest ihr direkt von der DNS ab - der Fahrer-DNS, wohl gemerkt. Denn die speichert das Fahrverhalten von euch, euren Kontrahenten und euren Kumpels ab. Das hei�t z.B., dass ihr nicht einfach die schnellste Runde eines Freundes herunterladen und gegen seinen Ghost antreten werdet. Stattdessen erhaltet ihr die DNS und sobald ihr einen Ghost mit dieser DNS ins Rennen holt, f�hrt er mit dem Stil, den euer Kumpel in den Asphalt brennt. So beschreibt es Campbell jedenfalls, denn wir waren w�hrend der Vorf�hrung ausschlie�lich solo unterwegs. Ob on- oder offline; ihr fahrt also normale Rennen, seid schlitternd unterwegs und pflegt eure Desoxyribonukleins�ure. Alles sch�n und gut, aber worum ging es bei den Hot Import Nights noch gleich? Richtig: Tunen, lackieren, vorf�hren! Und damit habt ihr alle H�nde voll zu tun. Schlie�lich taugen gew�hnliche Stra�enschlitten h�chstens zum Mitfahren ein Platz auf dem Podest ist nur mit gepimptem Motor und tiefer gelegten Felgen drin.
