[color=red][b] Cimentarsi con il rifacimento di “Halloween-La notte delle streghe”, diretto nel 1978 dal maestro della paura John Carpenter prendendo

ispirazione da “Psycho” (1960) di Alfred Hitchcock, “La cosa da un altro mondo” (1951) dell’accoppiata Christian Niby-Howard Hawks ed i primi film di Dario

Argento, è sicuramente un’impresa folle che solo all’eclettico Rob Zombie (al secolo Robert Bartleh Cummings) poteva venire in mente, dopo i riusciti “La

casa dei mille corpi” (2003) e “La casa del diavolo” (2005).
E’ un’impresa folle perché la vicenda dell’invulnerabile serial killer mascherato Michael Myers, evaso dal manicomio quindici anni dopo l’omicidio della

sorella, compiuto in tenera età, per dedicarsi allo sfoltimento della popolazione di Haddonfield durante la notte che dà il titolo al film, non solo

rappresenta la più alta vetta artistica raggiunta dal regista di “1997: Fuga da New York” (1981), ma, generatrice di sette sequel e di un’infinità

d’imitazioni a partire da “Venerdì 13” (1980), è stata non poche volte classificata come miglior pellicola horror della storia del cinema.
In realtà, però, questo nuovo “Halloween”, che si propone contemporaneamente come prequel e remake del titolo del 1978, sembra attingere anche dal quarto e

dal quinto capitolo della serie, tanto da riprenderne l’ormai cresciuta interprete Danielle Harris (“Daylight-Trappola nel tunnel”), qui nei panni di Annie

Brackett, amica della protagonista Scout Taylor-Compton (“Zombies-La vendetta degli innocenti”) che sostituisce invece l’originale Jamie Lee Curtis.
Soltanto due dei nomi che vanno ad arricchire un golosissimo cast costituito da volti noti del cinema di genere, da Richard Lynch (“Invasion USA”) a Brad

Dourif (“Bambola assassina”), passando per Udo Kier (“Suspiria”), Danny Trejo (“Dal tramonto all’alba”) e Ken Foree (“Zombi”), ma senza dimenticare neppure

Tom Towles (“Henry-Pioggia di sangue”) e Clint Howard (“I gusti del terrore”), fratello del famoso regista Ron.
Per non parlare di Malcolm McDowell (“Arancia meccanica”), impegnato a non far rimpiangere lo scomparso Donald Pleasence nelle vesti del mitico dottor Samuel

Loomis, all’interno di oltre 100 minuti di visione che, considerando la notevole presenza di affilati coltelli, possiamo tranquillamente associare ad una

vera e propria arma a doppio taglio finita tra le mani del regista.
Infatti, dal punto di vista del prodotto seriale, i retroscena che hanno contribuito alla trasformazione del piccolo Michael, figlio di una spogliarellista

convivente con il violento compagno, in un feroce assassino, risultano sicuramente interessanti, ma proprio tutti questi dettagli finiscono per eliminare

quel senso di mistero ed inquietudine che aveva caratterizzato il capostipite e, in generale, la figura del “mostro” mascherato, tanto da renderlo più umano

ai nostri occhi, privandolo in buona parte della sua affascinante natura soprannaturale.
Del resto, come già accennato, è principalmente di un antefatto di celluloide che stiamo parlando, quindi a nulla sarebbe servito realizzare una fedele copia

del film di Carpenter o l’ennesimo, banale sequel.
L’impressione generale, però, è quella di assistere ad un elaborato che concede troppo spazio alla storia dei Myers (la parte più riuscita dell’insieme, tra

l’altro), rilegando il remake vero e proprio a pochi minuti di visione tirati via in fretta e che si ricordano per lo più a causa dei neanche troppo

fantasiosi momenti di omicidio, impreziositi da ottimi effetti splatter e, soprattutto, da un’incredibilmente realistica resa della violenza.
Un elaborato che con ogni probabilità dividerà sia i fan che gli spettatori ordinari, ma che, forte anche delle caratterizzazioni di Daeg Faerch

(“Freakshow”) e Tyler Mane (“X-Men”) dentro e fuori la bianca maschera, rimane al di sopra della media, tanto da continuare a farci annoverare Zombie tra le

migliori nuove leve del cinema horror.

The residents of Haddonfield don't know it yet... but death is coming to their small sleepy town. Sixteen years ago, a ten year old boy called Michael Myers brutally kills his step father, his elder sister and her boyfriend. Sixteen years later, he escapes from the mental institution and makes his way back to his hometown intent on a murderous rampage pursued by Dr Sam Loomis who is Michael's doctor and the only one who knows Michael's true evil. Elsewhere a shy teenager by the name of Laurie Strode is babysitting on the night Michael comes home... is it pure coincidence that she and her friends are being stalked by him? Young Michael Myers is committed to Smith's Grove after the brutal murder of his mom and sister's boyfriends, and his sister Judith. After being there for roughly 17 years, he returns to his home town of Haddonfield in search of one of the only people he has ever cared about, his baby sister Laurie Strode. As he is tracked down by Dr. Sam Loomis he will kill anybody who gets in his path.
