Eragon somiglia più ad un Superman con cappa e spada che ad un guerriero fantasy: è capace di vedere oltre la materia solida e a lunghe distanze, ha poteri curativi di varia natura, spara raggi energetici, e ha una simbiosi telepatica con il suo drago, Saphira, lo stesso che gli conferisce i poteri. Inoltre, proprio come i supereroi dei comics americani, si carica del peso del Mondo \"suo malgrado\", prendendo coscienza di sé lentamente, proprio come un neo-Uomoragno. Ma a parte la natura intima del personaggio principale, in \"Eragon\" le innovazioni e le idee originali si fermano lì, proponendo una storia che, a ben vedere, non va molto oltre il: \"Salviamo la principessa; uccidiamo il cattivo; ripopoliamo il Mondo\". Alla pellicola quindi viene a mancare un pò di quella profondità che invece è necessaria al genere fantasy proprio per risultare il più possibile credibile e avvincente. Dal punto di vista registico quindi il film pare muoversi troppo in fretta, con stacchi brevi e solo insinuanti, mai davvero esplicativi sulla trama in corso; in più, pur essendo accademicamente corretta, la regia pare perdersi troppo in carrellate e panoramiche più intente a descrivere i bellissimi paesaggi che a comunicare effettivamente qualcosa allo spettatore. Schiusosi l\'uovo Saphira, la dragonessa di Eragon, cresce molto in fretta e Eragon comprende che il suo destino è quello di diventare un Cavaliere dei draghi.<br /> Durza invia i Ra\'zac a uccidere Eragon che riesce a sfuggirgli, tuttavia Garrow rimane ucciso. Eragon viene portato via da Carvahall da Brom, che conosce il suo segreto e si prende l\'impegno di addestrare e istruire Eragon e condURLo dai Varden, dove sarà al sicuro.<br /> Eragon e Brom arrivano a Daret dove il ragazzo scopre di possedere poteri magici. Frattanto impara a cavalcare agilmente Saphira. Durante il viaggio i due uccidono i Ra\'zac ed Eragon scopre che Brom è un Cavaliere dei Draghi, la cui cavalcatura era stata uccisa da Morzan, un cavaliere rinnegato al servizio di Galbatorix.<br /> Durza per catturare Eragon escogita il seguente tranello: evocando Arya in un sogno induce Eragon ad andare a Gil\'lead per salvarla; cade così in un\'imboscata da cui viene salvato da Brom, che sacrifica la sua vita.
