Julianne, quando viene a conoscenza che l\'ex amante e amico Michael convolerà a nozze, decide di mandare all\'aria il matrimonio con la ricca e bella Kimmy. Julianne e Michael avevano fatto un patto in cui si promettevano di sposarsi tra loro se dopo i 28 anni non avessero trovato l\'anima gemella. Dietro all\'inaspettato successo americano del film, si celano - forse - tre piccoli segreti, tre grandi astuzie. \'Il matrimonio del mio migliore\' amico s\'intromette con partecipata sollecitudine nelle increspature dei nuovi disordini amorosi. Ostenta con orgoglio una salutare dose di cattiveria e di perfidia. Prende a prestito, modernizzandoli, gli schemi, i ritmi e i requisiti della classica commedia all\'americana. Semplici accorgimenti comunque sufficienti a graffiare la superficie indolente e ripetitiva che ricopre, da un po\' di tempo, i poco sofisticati \'script\' hollywoodiani. L\'australiano P.J. Hogan, velocemente emigrato nella terra santa del cinema dopo il successo del suo primo film matrimoniale (\'Le nozze di Muriel\'), coglie nel segno, sceglie gli attori giusti, \'sposa\' una sceneggiatura calibratissima (di Ronald Bass).
