[color=red][b] Una base su Marte, o su un qualsiasi altro pianeta, possibilmente rosso, si trova in grande difficoltà. Il personale della base non sa

fronteggiare la minaccia, anche perché non ne conosce le caratteristiche. Occorre un aiuto esterno, qualcuno di veramente in gamba, per risolvere una

situazione che ha visto molti soccombere ingloriosamente.
Quanti a questo breve accenno a una trama banalotta e già vista, si sono rivisti giocare a uno di quei sparatutto che dai primi anni novanta del glorioso

Castle of Wolfestein sono entrati poderosamente nel mondo videoludico. E la stessa trama stentata e lineare costituisce l\'architettura di Doom, che dal primo

sparatutto di successo fagocita ambienti e griffe. Sicuramente non è una novità trovarsi in presenza di un film mutuato dal mondo dei videogiochi, di sicuro

lo è il fatto che il gioco in questione non faceva di sicuro della trama il suo forte.
Se l\'esperienza ludica, dunque, era incentrata totalmente sull\'immediatezza, e del coinvolgimento adrenalinico senza troppi pensieri faceva il suo forte,

passando sul grande schermo bisogna fare i conti con le implicazioni della pellicola, foriera di sensazioni visivo-emotive sicuramente diverse, anche se, in

alcuni casi, affini.
Ma gli sceneggiatori e il regista sembrano non accorgersene. Il plot si esaurisce in quelle poche righe che abbiamo accennato, tentando di perseguire con i

mezzi e i linguaggi del cinema quella che è una peculiarità propria del mondo videoludico. Il tutto diventa un pretesto per esibire, con una certa

faciloneria citazionista, riferimenti cinefili tra i più disparati, attingendo a piene mani da film cult del genere come Alien (in special modo il secondo

capitolo della saga) e Zombi di Romero, passando in rassegna velocemente tutta una certa filmografia di Carpenter e richiamandosi, per alcuni aspetti, anche

all\'immaginario visivo e psicologico della serie dei Jurassik park.
Tutto il film, dunque, non ha motivo di esistere se non come collage più o meno riuscito di classici del genere, non essendo sostenuto in alcun modo da una

struttura narrativa di qualsiasi genere, né da una costruzione visiva che si ponga come elemento di novità. E il regista cade nella trappola del

situazionismo, cercando di ravvivare lo scorrere altrimenti monotono del tutto con continui spostamenti del luogo dell\'azione, che finiscono per descrivere

sequenze incompiute e superficiali, nel tentativo di risolvere in modo sbrigativo le situazioni narrative.
Unico aspetto veramente degno di nota, è il piano sequenza in digitale di una mezza dozzina di minuti che riproduce in modo abbastanza fedele la soggettiva

che costituisce il punto di vista del gioco. Fatto salvo questo, Doom si va a confondere nel microcosmo dei film di genere, spiccando unicamente per il

blasone che si porta sulle spalle, e che non ha saputo onorare in modo convincente.

Synopsis
