Trama

Una normale famiglia inglese, divisa da gelosie, odi e antichi dissapori, si riunisce il giorno del funerale del patriarca. Amici e parenti si ritrovano e ognuno deve sforzarsi di venire a patti con gli altri, dissimulando le proprie ansie. Daniel, uno dei figli del defunto, deve tenere fede alla promessa fatta a sua moglie Jan di una vita migliore e intanto si sta preparando a fronteggiare il fratello Robert, un famoso romanziere pieno di sé che è in volo da New York. Intanto arriva anche la loro cugina Martha. È in condizioni disperate e ha deciso di presentare finalmente il suo nuovo fidanzato, Simon, al padre, sperando che questa volta lui approvi. Il suo piano, però, naufraga miseramente quando Simon assume per caso una droga sintetica e diviene preda di crisi incontrollabili e si spoglia proprio di fronte al suo potenziale suocero. L\'arrivo di un misterioso invitato, però, scuote tutta la famiglia. L\'uomo si dichiara a conoscenza di un terribile segreto che riguarda il patriarca e che potrebbe danneggiare tutta la famiglia e si dice pronto a rivelarlo. Questa rivelazione, per la prima volta, mette d\'accordo tutta la famiglia: gli scheletri devono rimanere ben nascosti negli armadi

Plot

Daniel is a decent young man, married to Jane, still living at his father\'s home. When his father dies, it is up to him to organize his funeral. On this painful morning, the suitable grave expression on his face, Daniel is ready to welcome his father\'s friends and relatives. But preserving the dignity inherent in such circumstances will be a hard task. Particularly with an undertaker who botches his work, the return from the USA of his famous but selfish brother, his cousin\'s fiancé who has accidentally ingested drugs, the presence a moron who takes advantage of the sad event to win back the heart (or rather the body) of a woman who is about to marry another, of a handicapped old uncle who is also the most unbearable pain in the neck. To cap it all, Daniel notices the presence among the mourners of a mysterious dwarf nobody else seems to know...

It's been a while since there's been a genuinely good British farce, but this one pressed all the right buttons. Memorable performances from Andy Nyman playing neurotic fool Howard and straight man Matthew MacFadyen make this a real crowd pleaser. Comedy is edgy enough for teens to enjoy although overall it will probably appeal to slightly older audiences. It would be great if this could do a Four Weddings. Only downer is the miscasting of the drug dealing brother who seems far too middle class and unrealistic for role. And the 'drug' joke seems to go on a bit. Uncle Alfie is an absolute hoot and script is generally full of some really good gags. Very good British farce

Bio FUNERAL OF THE SUN:

Formed in early 2004 by Igor - vocals, guitar, keyboards, writing; Roman - bass, arrangements; and Dima - second guitar, arrangements (plus session drummers), FUNERAL OF THE SUN were one of the first underground bands in Lugansk region who played Doom-Metal. Unfortunately, due to some inner problems Roman and Dima left 2006\'s fall to form their own grindcore project. Left alone Igor managed to record the songs in his home studio, completing a demo version of \"The Enchanted Forests of Autumn\" album. Demo recieved numerous positive reactions in Doom-Metal society on post-USSR area, and inspired by these feedbacks Igor got back to work on the material to improve it. In Winter 2009 he re-recorded some old songs to release them as \'Flowers of Doom\' EP this Spring. Check the new track right now!

Drums of Death (African Voodoo Funeral) SELECTIONS: PARAGO / AKOM / ADOVA 1 / ADOVA 2 / ATKOWE 1 / ATKOWE 2 / ATKOWE 3 These field recordings, captured by Mark Seidenfeld in November of 1996 during a Vaudou (Voodoo) funeral in the African village of Sogakope, Ghana, does a great service to the western world by bringing the intensity, anger, joy and pure passion of the ceremony to western culture. The emotions conjured by these recordings is difficult to express, suffice it to say that the somber tone of a European funeral or even the joyous wail of a New Orleans jazz funeral are indeed worlds away. Seidenfeld was only permitted to record these wonderful performances on the condition that he participate in the ceremony, and the results are perhaps the best of the tribal field recordings that I've encountered. A row of seven drummers are complimented by the village women who join in on wooden clappers, poignantly augmented by the angry wails of their native death songs. The large main drum is the source of improvisation and is played by tow men; one on the skin and the other beating sticks on the drum's wooden body. A treasure for those interested in the ways and origins of Voodoo, or for anyone with the desire to explore the brilliant music of other cultures. It consists of field recordings made the previous year by Mark Seidenfeld during a funeral procession of the Ewe people in central Ghana, and is a hugely exciting helping of riveting, passionate drum work. There are seven primary drummers accompanied by many villagers on small percussion and occasional vocalizing. While five of the drummers maintain traditional (and usually quite complex) rhythms, the two manning the largest drum are free to improvise, one on the skin, one on its wooden sides. The firestorm these musicians are able to conjure up can be nothing short of incredible, with intricate rhythmic matrices getting subsumed into passionate pounding that explodes orgasmically. The disc leads off with six intense, shorter pieces before concluding with a 23-minute marathon that will leave the listener breathless. The rhythmic and timbral richness in works like this should be required listening for any aficionado of "the beat" -- here is the beat in all its uncluttered, raw splendor. On the morning of their father's funeral, the family and friends of the deceased each arrive with his or her own roiling anxieties. Son Daniel knows he will have to face his flirty, blow-hard, famous-novelist brother Robert who's just flown in from New York, not to mention the promises of a new life he's made to his wife Jane.

Meanwhile, Daniel's cousin Martha and her dependable new fianc� Simon are desperate to make a good impression on Martha's uptight father -- a plan that literally goes out the window when Simon accidentally ingests a designer drug en route to the service, supplied by Martha's brother Troy, leaving him prone to uncontrollable bouts of delirium and nudity in front of his potential in-laws.

Then comes the real shocker: a mysterious guest who threatens to unveil an earth-shattering family secret. As riotous mayhem and unfortunate mishaps ensue on every front, it is now up to the two brothers to hide the truth from their family and friends and figure out how to not only bury their dearly beloved, but the secret he's been keeping.

Death at a Funeral, una comedia britanica sobre una familia que se junta para el funeral del patriarca, pero todo sale mal cuando alguien intenta develar un secreto familiar y alguien toma el medicamento equivocado. La pelicula es tonta/graciosa, es un humor muy britanico (es decir, incluye humor fecal) y la verdad es que intentan forzar el humor haciendote sentir incomodo. El que se roba la pelicula es Alan Tudyk (el que esta desnudo en la foto)... si quieren saber exactamente porque, van a tener que ver la pelicula.
