Anche i contributi speciali scarseggiano: troviamo un interessante commento audio di Salvati (fotografo) e Davanzati (cameraman) e un dietro le quinte dell\'epoca, una delle poche testimonianze raccolte sui set cinematografici del regista romano. (Fonte: splattercontainer.com)<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RECENSIONE (Italiano)<br /> <br /> Primo tassello (imperdibile per ogni amante dell\'horror) della mitica \"Trilogia della Morte\" Fulciana composta oltre che da questo bellissimo film, anche dal meraviglioso Quella Villa accanto al Cimitero e dal capolavoro L\'Aldilà...e tu vivrai nel Terrore!<br /> Pur essendo, forse, l\'opera meno riuscita fra quelle citate, è sicuramente quella più estrema e disturbante nella sua rappresentazione. Anche in questa pellicola Fulci si avvale della sua \"Factory\", composta da Dardano Sacchetti in veste di sceneggiatore, Vincenzo Tomassi al montaggio, Frizzi alle musiche, Geleng alle scenografie e Salvati come direttore della fotografia, riuscendo a creare un vero e proprio incubo ad occhi aperti con un budget risicato e con pochissime ambientazioni. Notevole come al solito il lavoro del fido Giannetto De Rossi agli effetti speciali: i suoi \"fantasmi\\nonmorti\" sono incredibilmente originali e spaventosi, molto vicini per rappresentazione agli incubi di Lovecraftiana memoria (non a caso questa pellicola è ispirata alla lontana proprio alle opere dello scrittore di Providence). Fulci non mostra alcun indugio nel mostrare con il maggior dettaglio possibile interiora, vermi e tutte le atroci conseguenze della distruzione della \"carne\".<br /> <br /> Molte sequenze entrano di diritto nella storia del cinema horror - splatter: la famosa scena in cui Daniela Doria vomita i propri organi interni sotto l\'influsso malefico del prete maledetto, i vari crani spappolati a mani nude, occhi che piangono sangue, la pioggia di orrendi vermi che ricopre (letteralmente) i poveri malcapitati protagonisti, la trapanazione del cranio del povero handicappato Bob (un intenso Giovanni Lombardo Radice) da parte di un padre geloso e folle. A questo proposito ricordiamo tutte le critiche che piovvero addosso al povero Fulci riguardo la sua presunta \"attitudine fascista\" e all\'odio verso i diversi; che ritengo davvero insulse e senza senso, vista anche la sua appartenenza da sempre all\'ambiente culturale di sinistra. Sarebbe stupido pensare però che un autore del calibro di Fulci si potesse fermare ad una semplice esposizione di sangue e frattaglie. Basta infatti citare la sequenza introduttiva del film (silenziosa, buia, con un vento fortissimo di sottofondo) relativa al suicidio di Padre Thomas, per comprendere quanto il tutto fosse artisticamente realizzato ai massimi livelli e senza nessuna sbavatura. Memorabile anche il \"risveglio\" di Mary nella bara dopo la sua presunta morte (scena debitrice stavolta del grande Poe), con Peter che per liberare la medium spacca la cassa a picconate rischiando accidentalmente di ucciderla. Un momento agghiacciante, girato in modo sublime grazie anche all\'apporto essenziale del grande operatore di macchina Davanzati.<br /> Proprio questa scena verrà omaggiata da Quentin Tarantino nel suo Kill Bill, durante la sepolutura da viva della \"sposa\" Uma Thurman. Occorre inoltre segnalare il solito cameo di Lucio Fulci nella parte di un dottore e la breve partecipazione d.o.c. di un giovane Michele Soavi, al quale verrà strappato barbaramente il cervello.<br /> Che dire di piu\'?<br /> Ancora una volta il regista è riuscito a trasmettere un\'angoscia ed una spettralità cinematografica unica che lo rende a tutti gli effetti un autore straordinario. Naturalmente alla sua uscita nelle sale la pellicola fu distrutta dagli addetti ai lavori e dai critici \"benpensanti\"...ma come al solito avevano torto.
