Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing 2000, more commonly known as Carmageddon TDR 2000, was an action-racing-vehicular combat video game. The sequel to Carmageddon II, it was developed by Torus Games and released in the United Kingdom on September 1 2000, and on December 14 in North America. The title is a homage to an inspiration for the Carmageddon series, Death Race 2000. As with the other games in the series, one of the most controversial aspects was that pedestrians could be killed by immolation, or by graphic collisions that could include dismemberment. Versions of the game in some countries replaced the human pedestrians with zombies (actually only changing the red blood to green slime), but patches were circulated on the internet that reverted the game to its original state. During development of TDR 2000, SCi hired Tozzer.com to create an online comic based on the Carmageddon video game.

Review

Carmageddon TDR 2000, the sequel to Carmageddon and Carmageddon II, was a controversial[citation needed] action-racing-vehicular combat video game developed by Torus Games and released in 2000.

The game was released in the United Kingdom on September 1, 2000, and on December 14 in North America. The game was generally not well received by fans of the previous two games because of stricter time limits and repetitive missions inserted between races.[citation needed]

One of the most controversial aspects of Carmageddon TDR 2000 was that pedestrians could be killed by means of burning or graphic collisions; that could include dismemberment. Some versions of the game for other countries replaced the human pedestrians with zombies, actually only changing the color of the blood from red to green, but patches were circulated on the Internet that revert the game to its original state.

During development of TDR2000, SCi hired Tozzer.com to create an online comic based on the Carmageddon video game.

Va premesso che questo � forse uno dei titoli pi� controversi della storia dei videogiochi, a causa suoi contenuti piuttosto violenti. Nel gioco, infatti, impersonerete Max Damage, un losco figuro che ha l'hobby di investire i pedoni. Su PC, nelle versioni non censurate, investendo animali e passanti si guadagnavano soldi che permettevano di potenziare il proprio mezzo. La Sony per evitare ulteriori polemiche, ha deciso di autocensurarsi, sostituendo pedoni e animali con zombi verdastri (... come se la cosa cambiasse molto).
A parte questo sostanzialmente il gioco rimane invariato, e quindi lo scopo principale rimane quello di arrivare per primi al traguardo o ancora meglio distruggere i propri avversari. I livelli del gioco sono in tutto 30 e all'interno di essi ci saranno una serie di bonus che miglioreranno le prestazioni della vettura. Parlando invece dell'aspetto tecnico c'� da fare innanzitutto un elogio alla grafica, i modelli poligonali delle vetture sono realizzati ottimamente, stesso discorso vale per i circuiti che hanno un livello di dettaglio molto elevato. Purtroppo tutta questa grafica viene penalizzata da un motore grafico, non sempre all'altezza della situazione, infatti nei momenti pi� complessi queste limitazioni si faranno sentire in maniera piuttosto pesante. Spesso pu� capitarvi di vedere oggetti materializzarsi dal nulla.
Una nota di demerito va anche fatta al sistema di controllo che spesso risulta impreciso a causa del ritardo della reazione del vostro mezzo dopo la pressione dei comandi. Indubbiamente di questo ne risente molto la giocabilit�. Parlando di longevit�, posso dire che superare tutti e 30 i livelli non sar� una cosa affatto facile e la sfida dovrebbe tenervi impegnati per un bel po'. Un elogio va fatto infine all'opzione 2 giocatori che oltre a essere molto divertente funziona benissimo.
Concludendo posso consigliare questo gioco a tutti coloro che vanno in cerca di emozioni forti, e che soprattutto abbiano la pazienza di sopportare la pessima realizzazione tecnica.
