Nel momento di maggior fulgore della sua creatività, ormai già simbolo di una generazione in lotta, dei fratelli maggiori di quei ragazzi che solo tre anni dopo metteranno a ferro e fuoco il quartiere latino a Parigi, Bob Dylan elabora e porta a termine quello che forse può essere considerato il suo capolavoro - insieme a \"Blonde on Blonde\" dell\'anno successivo -. In un Greenwich Village ormai patria del folk, in un panorama musicale che cerca ogni secondo che passa di sfornare un nuovo menestrello, Dylan ribadisce la sua unicità e la sua originalità.

L\'attacco di \"Subterranean Homesick Blues\" è inaspettato e travolgente, swing mischiato ad un rock classico trascinante, con la solita armonica a bocca di supporto. Il cantautore, con i suoi giochi di parole (avete mai letto \"Tarantula\"?), parla della società americana con un divertito sarcasmo, irresistibile, mette alla berlina i difensori del pudore e della legalità, ma anche la stupidità degli intellettuali dell\'East River. Dopotutto Dylan è il portavoce della massa, novello Joe Hill, non certo dell\'intellighenzia. \"She Belongs to me\" è una canzone d\'amore splendidamente accompagnata dalla batteria (\"She\'s an hypnotist collector, you are a walking antique\"), mentre in \"Maggie\'s Farm\" si torna ad odiare il padronato, gli ordini, gli obblighi che la società cerca di imporre. La rabbia di Dylan è genuina e pervade l\'aria di elettricità.

Nuovo brano d\'amore nell\'inimitabile \"Love Minus Zero/No Limit\", vera gemma nascosta di un\'iperproduzione. La musica è splendida, il testo è forse il più bello che una canzone d\'amore abbia mai proposto (\"My love she speaks like silence, without ideals or violence\"). \"Outlaw Blues\" e \"On the Road Again\" sono due blues ispirati dal Be Bop tanto caro a Jack Kerouac e ai compagni della beat generation, e non aggiungono nulla al valore dell\'opera artistica di Dylan; fungono invece da spartiacque. Nella prima parte rimangono infatti i brani più spinti, più vicini al rock che irromperà presto \"come una pietra che rotola\", mentre nella seconda stanno per arrivare cinque indimenticabili brani folk. Il menestrello ha cambiato faccia, sì, ma non anima!

L\'attacco è dato dalla visionaria \"Bob Dylan\'s 115TH Dream\", dove l\'ascoltatore entra nei meandri della mente del menestrello e cerca di decodificarne segni incomprensibili eppure pieni di significati, come nell\'ironico finale in cui Dylan, incontrando sul molo di New York le tre caravelle di Cristoforo Colombo, non riesce a far altro se non augurargli \"Good Luck\"; seguita a ruota dal capolavoro dell\'album, forse la canzone più bella di Dylan, \"Mr. Tambourine Man\", dove parlando di un semplice spacciatore, vengono condensati tutti i sogni e le ansie di una generazione, che cerca una via di fuga artificiale ad un mondo che ha rinunciato a combattere e che desidera ormai soltanto dimenticare (\"With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves/ let me forget about today until tomorrow\").

Chiudono l\'album, come ipotetico trio, \"Gates of Eden\", ennesima critica al mondo e al modo di vivere borghese, \"It\'s Alright, Ma (I\'m only bleeding)\", dove viene descritto il dolore come filosofia e si ricerca un nichilismo intriso di malinconia e dolcezza (la canzone è una delle pietre portanti della colonna sonora di \"Easy Rider\" di Dennis Hopper) e la dolce canzone d\'amore \"It\'s all over now, Baby Blue\" dove si parla della crisi di coppia e della delusione. Un album praticamente perfetto, dove ogni tassello trova la sua giusta collocazione e dove viene divisa perfettamente la parte elettrica (l\'ironia, il gioco di parole, l\'amore allegro) da quella acustica (la malinconia, il dolore, l\'amore sfuggito). Una pietra miliare.

La collana “Bootleg Series” di Bob Dylan continua a regalarci gioielli fin’ora tenuti nascosti ai fans, concerti storici del “menestrello” reperibili solo come bootleg. Dopo il doppio live alla Royal Albert Hall è ora il turno di Rolling Thunder Reveu che rappresenta bene una delle tournè più famose ed acclamate di Dylan. La “Rolling Thunder Reveu” era una sorta di carrozzone itinerante in cui a Bob Dylan si aggiungevano di volta in volta straordinari musicisti come Joan Baez, Joni Mitchel, Robbie Robertson, T Bone Burnett e molti altri. Questo straordinario carrozzone musicale si muoveva in lungo e in largo senza programmare nulla, arrivavano in una città senza pubblicità, senza essere annunciati in alcun modo e in poche ore mettevano in piedi il concerto. Questo modo molto particolare se vogliamo anche clandestino di organizzare i concerti ha giovato molto a Dylan che liberato dalla pressione dei media che fino ad allora ne caratterizzavano ogni tour ha potuto esprimere a pieno la sua creatività e offrirsi ai suoi fans in modo totale facendo concerti che superavano abbondantemente le tre ore di durata, spesso mascherato con il volto dipinto. Questo doppio cd è una splendida testimonianza di quel tour, nei 2 cd sono documentati 4 concerti, rispettivamente: Worcester 19 novembre, Cambridge 20 novembre, Boston 21 novembre, Montreal 4 dicembre, tutti nel 1975.
Nei 2 cd Bob e compagnia suonano sullo stile di Desire un country folk con la steel guitar sugli scudi, tanti cori e il violino di Scarlett Rivera in bella mostra. Ci sono quasi tutti i classici “dylaniani” con grande spazio riservato a quelli del gia citato Destre. Troviamo così “It Ain’t Me. Babe”,”A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” rivista in chiave più veloce con una grandissima steel guitar,versione bellissima e molto coinvolgente con il suo grandissimo ritornello, “Mr Tambourine Man” suonata da Bob da solo sul palco in modo sensazionale, “Romance in Durango” (molti ricorderanno la versione di De Andrè nel live con la PFM), “Blowin’ In The Wind” fatta in coppia con Joan Baez è la versione più bella che ho mai sentito sia su disco che dal vivo. Il secondo cd ci regala altre gemme come “Love Minus Zero No Limit” una ballata incredibile di quelle che forse solo Dylan sa fare, “Hurricane” era la canzone portante di Desire e in questa versione live è ancora più irresistibile grazie all’aggiunta del violino, “Sara” (altro grande hit sempre da Destre) con il suo ritornello unico è sempre una gioia per le orecchie dell’ascoltatore. Il disco continua con un altro classico della discografia di Bob “Just Like a Woman”, qui Dylan canta con trasporto in un modo molto espressivo come raramente lo si è sentito dal vivo, sempre splendidi steel e violino. Il disco si chiude con il classico dei classici “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” versione molto simile a quella su disco ma cantata a più voci.
In definitiva che dire di questo album se non che è un acquisto obbligato per ogni fan di Bob Dylan ma anche per coloro i quali si avvicinano per la prima volta alla sua musica. A giudizio di chi scrive questo disco è sicuramente uno dei più bei live del “menestrello del rock” impreziosito da un booklet di ben 50 pagine con tante belle foto.

Registrato a New York, venne prodotto da Tom Wilson. Dylan - autore, come accadrà dal suo secondo album in poi, di testi e musiche - si accompagna con chitarra ed armonica a bocca.

Questo album, interamente acustico, è considerato da molti cultori della produzione dylaniana un vero e proprio manifesto della canzone politica e di protesta; nei dieci brani che lo compongono, Dylan si scaglia contro la società e, in modo profetico e cadenza quasi biblica, sembra ammonire duramente: fate attenzione, poiché i tempi stanno cambiando e i figli di oggi sono pronti a rivoltarsi contro i loro stessi padri per ribaltare - appunto in maniera biblica - concetti e filosofie, aspettative e pregiudizi.

Le sonorità di questo disco sono impostate su un blues secco ed essenziale, scandito dalle pennate marcate sulla chitarra e dal suono che dà anima alla musica folk dell\'armonica a bocca.

Le canzoni politiche qui proposte, a detta dei cultori della poetica dylaniana, non indicano in effetti alcuna nuova strada (Dylan ha sempre sostenuto di non essere il portavoce di nessuno eccetto che di sé stesso, e che non c\'è bisogno del meteorologo per sapere da che parte tira il vento), suscitando però nuovi dubbi e inedite domande.

La traccia che chiude l\'album - intitolata Restless Farewell (Inquieto addio) - è in questo senso esemplare, specie nel passaggio in cui afferma:
« Ogni pensiero s\'aggroviglia / nella mia mente / potrei diventare pazzo / se non potessi scioglierlo / ma non deve restare nudo / sotto occhi che non capiscono / è per me e per i miei amici / che le mie canzoni sono cantate / ma il tempo non è molto / se è dal tempo che dipendi [...] »

Un altro brano che indica una profonda inquietudine da parte dell\'autore - pronto ad interrogarsi, piuttosto che a darsi delle risposte che, abitualmente, soffiano nel vento, sulle ingiustizie della società - è The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, in cui narra dell\'uccisione di una sguattera di cucina (la Hattie Carroll del titolo, appunto) da parte di un tale William Zanzinger, ventiquattrenne possidente terriero, che sarà condannato ad un pena mite da una giuria compiacente che derubricherà l\'accusa di omicidio volontario a quella di omicidio colposo (è da ricordare che Dylan ha ammesso nella sua autobiografia Chronicles - Volume 1 di essersi ispirato per le sue prime composizioni a fatti di cronaca realmente accaduti).

Meritevole di citazione, infine, è la caustica ed amara With God on Our side (con Dio dalla nostra parte) e Only a Pawn in Their Game (Solo pedine del loro gioco), veri e propri j\'accuse verso l\'intera classe politica.

Come accadrà anche per il successivo Another Side of Bob Dylan, l\'edizione del disco in vinile riporta per la prima volta sul retro copertina una lunga poesia dello stesso Dylan; in essa viene ricordato con accenti mesti e poetici al tempo stesso l\'uccisione, avvenuta pochi mesi prima dell\'uscita del disco a Dallas (Texas) del presidente JFK.

l genio creativo di Dylan è incredibilmente vario e prolifico. Nel 1965 la coppia di capolavori \"Bringing It All Back Home\"/\"Highway 61 Revisited\", ad appena un Years di distanza l\'album definitivo, il massimo capolavoro, la stella più luccicante della carriera.

\"Blonde on Blonde\" è l\'album in cui confluiscono tutte le possibili ispirazioni del cantautore statunitense, e vi confluiscono nella loro forma più seducente. Si parte con Dylan che recita \"Well, they\'ll stone ya when you\'re trying to be so good/they\'ll stone ya just a-like they said they would\" in \"Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35\"; ancora una volta Dylan apre un album con una cocciuta dimostrazione del suo voler essere indipendente da qualsiasi moda (si pensi a \"Subterranean Homesick Blues\" e \"Like a Rolling Stone\" nei due lavori precedenti), ancora una volta la sua lingua sferzante si diverte a spiazzare l\'ascoltatore. Che però non può far altro che rimanere incantato davanti alla perfezione dei brani: stiamo pur sempre parlando di una scaletta che regala perle a ripetizione.

Se \"Visions of Johanna\", con il suo titolo kerouackiano e la sua ritmica malinconica e acustica conduce in atmosfere consuete attraversate dalla lirica allucinatoria e dai giochi di assonanze (\"See the Primitive Wallflower Freeze When the Jelly-Faced Women All Sneeze, Hear the One with the Mustache Say, \"Jeeze I Can\'t Find my Knees\"), in un crescendo emozionale sorprendente, \"Just Like a Woman\" è una ballata splendida, sorretta da una ritmica avvolgente e corposa, e si permette il lusso di chiudersi su un lungo, fluido assolo di armonica prima del conclusivo arpeggio di chitarra.

Ma non è certo tutto qui: c\'è l\'incedere senza fiato dei sette minuti di \"Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again\", una delle più belle canzoni scritte dal menestrello di Duluth, l\'omaggio a Chuck Berry e Little Richard di \"Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat\", la gioia trascinante e rassicurante di \"I Want You\" - nella quale Dylan dimostra ulteriormente come si possa essere poeti anche nei semplici brani d\'amore, scrivendo \"il politico ubriaco salta fuori su ogni strada dove una madre si lamenta, e ogni salvatore che presto si addormenta è te che aspetta. E io aspetto loro perché sia interrotto questo mio abbeverarmi ad un boccale rotto; e chiedimi di aprire per te i cancelli\" -, la poesia musicata della conclusiva \"Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands\", che da sola compone un\'intera facciata dell\'LP originale.

Difficile non comprendere immediatamente la grandezza e la portata rivoluzionaria di un album come \"Blonde on Blonde\". Testimonianza di un\'epoca prima ancora che testimonianza di un genio, simbolo sociale prima ancora che feticcio. Se ancora non l\'avete è veramente ora di rimediare.

Da un precursore come è stato Bob Dylan è facile aspettarsi sempre e comunque di tutto.Anche che a metà anni \'70 pubblichi un lavoro che potrebbe essere benissimo di dieci anni prima. Sì perché \"Blood On The Tracks\" odora di folk cantautorale come poco materiale del menestrello.
E\' essenzialmente il disco più acustico mai fatto da Dylan, ma ciononostante non è un passo indietro nella produzione artistica di Mr. Robert Allen Zimmerman. E\' un album costruito interamente sul tema della delusione amorosa, e la sua esecuzione (quasi totalmente chitarra e voce) può, ad un primo ascolto, far pensare ad un lavoro amatoriale. Ed è questo l\'esito al quale vuole pervenire Dylan, per il quale le origini (della musica in generale non solo della sua) sono sempre state punto di riferimento perenne, mai rinnegate dalle svolte rock.
Dylan, reduce da lavori male accolti dalla critica a cavallo tra anni \'60 e \'70, quando per alcuni era già artisticamente vecchio, ci fa riassaporare in queste ottime dieci tracce, il suo lato migliore di folk-singer sentimentale. Il titolo stesso (\"Blood On The Tracks\") è significativo della passione che travolse l\'autore nella composizione di questo lavoro indubbiamente molto ispirato.
I successi non mancano a partire dall\' iniziale \"Tangled Up In Blue\", ritmica composizione folk-blues, che ci racconta il flashback di un incontro problematico fra un uomo ed una donna. L\'uomo, povero (in tutti sensi) e disperato (personaggio tipico in molti brani anche precedenti di Dylan) e la donna, solitamente diversa da come appare ad un primo incontro, sono un po\' il filo conduttore dell\'intero lavoro.
Nel secondo pezzo, \"Simple Twist Of Fate\", forse uno dei migliori brani fingerpicking di Dylan, si cerca di rendere più comprensibili le delusioni (in particolare amorose) e di prendere la vita come viene, tanto ciò che succede è solo un banale \"attorcigliarsi\" del destino.
Dedica alla figura femminile anche nel terzo brano \"You\'re A Big Girl Now\" (il cui inizio mi ricorda ogni volta \"Giorno di pioggia\" di Francesco De Gregori, peraltro precedente) nel quale si arriva alla conclusione che le stranezze della donna sono motivate semplicemente dal fatto che lei non è altro che una ragazza cresciuta.
Dylan in questo disco è un uomo maturo, che riesce più lucidamente a capire l\'altro sesso e non come nei dischi della gioventù dove sarcasmo e ironia sull\'argomento abbondano. Qui la riflessione è più seria ma mai comunque banale e scontata, come anche nella quasi-arrabbiata cantata di \"Idiot wind\".
Il folk esasperato di \"You\'re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go\" che può sembrare un ritorno alle ironie giovanili, è invece una serena constatazione di come un uomo rimane dopo l\'abbandono da parte della sua amata. La maniera distaccata del canto di Dylan può far sì che le canzoni non siano sentite dall\'artista, pur essendo invece tutte autobiografiche.
Non può mancare il più classico dei blues della desolazione che qui è \"Meet Me In The Morning\". Nel successivo brano, \"Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of The Tearts\", che pecca di eccessiva lungaggine, l\'atmosfera è western e l\'armonica iniziale è suonata in maniera molto innovativa, quasi distorta. Il ritmo complessivo è decisamente trascinante ma come già detto, è forse eccessiva la durata del pezzo.
Le ultime tre canzoni sono forse le migliori di un album che ha decisamente pochi colpi bassi. La prima del trittico conclusivo,\"If You See Her Say Hello\" è probabilmente la più bella canzone d\'amore scritta da Dylan (commovente l\'arpeggio iniziale di circa quaranta secondi). Il brano è un indiretto colloquio con l\'amata, tramite una persona terza. Dylan vuole negare il suo stato d\'animo da uomo deluso di fronte alla donna che l\'ha lasciato, pur provando una disperata nostalgia per lei. Bellissima la versione italiana di Franceso De Gregori (vero e proprio discepolo di Dylan) che si intitola \"Non dirle che non è così\" (che poi oltre ad essere un verso tradotto della canzone originale, è anche il significato della stessa).
Altro cult è la celeberrima \"Shelter From The Storm\", bellissimo racconto dell\'incontro con l\'amata che gli offre apparentemente la serenità e la felicità. Si chiude con \"Buckets Of Rain\" in cui la metafora della pioggia dovrebbe rappresentare le lacrime versate per colpa dell\'amore. La pioggia come le lacrime lavano il vecchio e lasciano posto al nuovo: bisogna quindi lasciare il passato alle spalle. La conclusione è perfetta con questo brano che testimonia la logica fine di un amore che non può mai comunque prescindere l\'incerdere della vita.
Dylan, se mai con questo album abbia voluto azzerarsi, ci è riuscitio come meglio non poteva. Essere capace di tornare alle origini, pur con la consapevolezza di avere dieci anni di più, è il pregio che ha l\'autore nello stendere questo lavoro. Testimonianza viva di come Dylan sappia ogni volta partire da zero, nella discografia del menestrello questo disco è seriamente candidato al posto di capolavoro assoluto.

The Freewheelin\' Bob Dylan (traducibile come Bob Dylan a ruota libera) è il titolo di un album pubblicato da Bob Dylan nel maggio del 1963; è il secondo album ufficiale (il primo con composizioni interamente sue) dell\'autore di Duluth dopo il disco d\'esordio che portava il suo nome (Bob Dylan, del 1962, composto da cover di brani traditional del folk statunitense).
Oltre a Bob Dylan alla voce, chitarra e armonica, sono presenti come \"session man\" nei brani non acustici R.Wellstood al pianoforte, Bruce Langhorne e G.Barnes alla chitarra elettrica, A.Davis al basso e H.Lovelle alla batteria.
Registrato a New York City, fu prodotto da John Hammond; riporta sulla contro-copertina note con descrizione dei brani e presentazione del compositore e cantante scritte da Nat Hentoff. La foto di copertina ritrae invece un giovane Dylan a passeggio sottobraccio con la allora fidanzata Suze Rotolo in una strada innevata di New York, scattata l\'inverno precedente, al momento del suo arrivo a New York dall\'Iron Range del Minnesota.
Il brano dell\'album destinato a restare nella storia della musica rock - e a lanciare su scala planetaria il giovane Dylan - fu Blowin\' in the Wind, che diverrà da allora la canzone di protesta per eccellenza e al tempo stesso una vera e propria bandiera del pacifismo, per i versi dal contenuto universale e senza tempo.
L\'album comprende tra gli altri motivi anche A Hard Rain\'s A-Gonna Fall, monito esplicito espresso senza mezzi termini sulle conseguenze di un possibile conflitto nucleare.
Tutte le canzoni di questo album sono degne di memoria, ma soffermarvici sarebbe troppo lungo e toglierebbe il gusto di ascoltare e carpire i messaggi direttamente dalla musica e dall\'espressiva voce di Dylan.
Altri brani degni di essere ricordati sono Masters of War, brano che si scaglia contro i \"signori della guerra\" , vale a dire i fabbricanti di armi, anch\'essa diventata quasi un inno per i pacifisti, soprattutto negli anni in cui il conflitto in Vietnam era alle porte.
Infine Talkin\' World War III Blues, acido talkin\' blues (blues parlato, quasi antesignano dei successivi rap) su una possibile nonché temuta terza guerra mondiale.

Molte sonorità da garage band, un po\' di Rolling Stones, un suono aggressivo, acid punk, lisergico nei contenuti e negli effetti, caratterizzato dal\'insolito timbro dell\'electric jug, un grosso bottiglione suonato ritmicamente dall\'imboccatura. You\'re Gonna Miss Me è il punto più alto del suono degli Elevators (e uno dei vertici del rock psichedelico americano), ma tutto il repertorio è splendido e ricchissimo di bagliori lisergici: Roller Coaster, Reverberation, Fire Engine, Tried To Hide sono veri capolavori di psico punk, grezzo, sfilacciato; e anche la lenta ballata Splash, il punto più delicato e quasi romantico toccato dal gruppo, ha qualcosa di inquietante. Bob Dylan - Self Portrait (1970) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There has never been a clearer attempt to shed an audience than Self-Portrait. At least, that\'s one way of looking at this baffling double album, a deliberately sprawling affair that runs the gamut from self-portrait to self-parody, touching on operatic pop, rowdy Basement Tapes leftovers, slight whimsy, and covers of wannabe Dylans from Paul Simon to Gordon Lightfoot. To say the least, it\'s confusing, especially arriving at the end of a decade of unmitigated brilliance, and while the years have made it easier to listen to, it still remains inscrutable, an impossible record to unlock. It may not be worth the effort, either, since this isn\'t a matter of deciphering cryptic lyrics or interpreting lyrics, it\'s all about discerning intent, figuring out what the hell Dylan was thinking when he was recording -- not trying to decode a song. There are times where it\'s quite clearly played for a laugh -- if his shambling version of \"The Boxer\" isn\'t a pointed parody of Paul Simon, there was no reason to cut it -- but he\'s poker-faced elsewhere, and the songs (apart from such earthed gems as \"Mighty Quinn,\" which aren\'t presented in their best versions) are simply not worth much consideration. But, in a strange way, Self Portrait is, because decades have passed and it still doesn\'t make much sense, even for Dylanphiles. That doesn\'t necessarily mean that it\'s worth the time to figure it out -- you\'re not going to find an answer, anyway -- but it\'s sort of fascinating all the same. Hard Rain bears this out, being neither as sacrilegious or as exciting as Blood on the Tracks, and never seeming necessary -- after all, it arrives just two years after the last live album. There are some new interpretations along the lines of what appeared on Before the Flood, but this lacks kinetic energy, rolling along on its own sense of inevitably. Bringing It All Back Home is Bob Dylan's fifth studio album, released in 1965 by Columbia Records.

The album is divided into an electric and an acoustic side. On side one of the original LP, Dylan is backed by an electric rock and roll band - a move that further alienated him from some of his former peers in the folk song community. Likewise, on the acoustic second side of the album, he distanced himself from the protest songs with which he had become closely identified (such "Blowin' in the Wind" and "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall"), as his lyrics continued their trend toward the abstract and personal.

Bringing It All Back Home is often cited as the birth of folk rock, and one of the peak albums of Dylan's career.

The album reached #6 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart, the first of Dylan's LPs to break into the US top 10. It also topped the UK charts later that Spring. The lead-off track, "Subterranean Homesick Blues", became Dylan's first single to chart in the US, peaking at #39.

Most of the album was actually recorded eight years earlier, in the basement of a house shared by the musicians. As Bob Dylan recovered from a near-fatal motorcycle accident during 1967, he called on The Band to help him experiment with themes of traditional folk music and Americana; these explorations, and their possible links with the earlier Anthology of American Folk Music, are explored in Invisible Republic by author Greil Marcus.

The sessions laid the foundation both for the approach of Dylan's 1967 album John Wesley Harding, and for the Band finding their own voice on 1968's Music From Big Pink. The Dylan LP, a critically-acclaimed departure from the surrealist rock and roll he had recently pioneered on his milestone trio of albums from 1965 and 1966, was as much of a shock to his fans as were those records to his earlier folk audience. Both it and Music From Big Pink would greatly influence the turn, by many contemporary popular musicians, away from the psychedelic music that reached its height in 1967, toward an embrace of country-influenced folk styles.

Material from the sessions had been heavily bootlegged since 1968, with the most famous being 1969's Great White Wonder. It wasn't until Dylan's comeback with Blood on the Tracks in 1975 that any of it was officially released, and The Basement Tapes was welcomed with high praise from fans and critics. Compiled by Robbie Robertson, the album features new songs and many overdubs made by The Band long after the original sessions. More complete and authentic documents of the 1967 tapes have since surfaced and are traded by fans, while the later Band tracks have appeared as bonus tracks on CD reissues of their proper albums.

The Basement Tapes peaked at #7 in 1975 on Billboard's (North America) Pop Albums chart and reached #8 in the UK. In 2003, the album was ranked number 291 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Bringing It All Back Home is Bob Dylan\'s fifth studio album, released in 1965 by Columbia Records.

The album is divided into an electric and an acoustic side. On side one of the original LP, Dylan is backed by an electric rock\'n\'roll band - a move that further alienated him from some of his former peers in the folk song community. Likewise, on the acoustic second side of the album, he distanced himself from the protest songs with which he had become closely identified (such \"Blowin\' in the Wind\" and A Hard Rain\'s a-Gonna Fall\"), as his lyrics continued their trend toward the abstract and personal.

Bringing It All Back Home is often cited as the birth of folk-rock, and one of the peak albums of Dylan\'s career.

The album reached #6 on Billboard\'s Pop Albums chart, the first of Dylan\'s LPs to break into the US top 10. It also topped the UK charts later that Spring. The lead-off track, \"Subterranean Homesick Blues\", became Dylan\'s first single to chart in the US, peaking at #39.In 2003, the album was ranked number 31 on Rolling Stone magazine\'s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
