In rural Mississippi, Lazarus, a former blues musician who survives by truck farming, finds a young girl nearly beaten to death near his home. She\'s the white-trash town tramp, molded by a life of sexual abuse at the hands of her father and verbal abuse from her mother, who seems to delight in reminding Rae of her mistake in not aborting her. Lazarus, who is also facing personal crisis at the dissolution of his marriage, nurses Rae back to health, providing her with gentle, fatherly advice as well as an education in blues music. Rae\'s boyfriend, Ronnie, goaded by the man who nearly beat Rae to death, misunderstands the relationship between Lazarus and Rae, and vows to kill him. Lazarus, exhibiting a street-smart understanding of violence and its motives, calls Ronnie\'s bluff, senses that he is as troubled as Rae, and becomes a guiding force in the young couple\'s resurrection. RECENSIONE (Italiano)

Tennessee Williams incontra l\'exploitation in questo \" Black snake moan \" , che resuscita un genere che sembrava ormai estinto, il Southern Gothic. Paradossalmente il tutto risulta meno pulp di quanto potrebbe sembrare a prima vista ( la locandina del film farebbe sbavare il Tarantino di Grindhouse ), grazie alla misurata regia di Craig Brewer e alla perfetta alchimia che si instaura tra i due protagonisti, Samuel Jackson e Christina Ricci, trasformandosi in una classica storia di redenzione. In una piccola cittadina del Tennessee Christina Ricci, quella che gli americani chiamerebbero white trash, è Rae, una ragazza con seri disturbi del comportamento sessuale dovuti ad una violenza subita nell\'infanzia, cosa tanto improbabile sul piano clinico quanto emotivamente coinvolgente per lo spettatore, mentre Samuel Jackson è Lazarus, un contadino appena lasciato dalla moglie, ex bluesman timorato di Dio. Quando il fidanzato di Rae ( un convincente Justin Timberlake ) parte per il servizio militare, la ragazza perde il suo unico punto di riferimento e si lascia andare ad una serie di eccessi. I due sono destinati ad incontrarsi una notte in cui Rae, picchiata e data per morta, viene abbandonata vicino alla casa di Lazarus il quale, per curare quella che considera una malattia, la incatena ad un termosifone. Arrivati a questo punto lo spettatore smaliziato inizia a temere il peggio, anche perché l\'atmosfera, ben servita da una fotografia sgranata alla Death Proof, è sudaticcia e fangosa quanto basta e, per citare l\'immortale Lynch di Wild at heart, \" Più calda dell\'asfalto della Georgia \". Invece il film sterza in maniera inaspettata, Lazarus assume un ruolo di padre vicario e ritrova proprio in Rae una ragione per vivere, mentre la ragazza, dopo un processo lungo e doloroso, forse riuscirà ad esorcizzare i propri demoni. Ottima la prova dei due protagonisti, ben assecondati da una regia non invasiva: Samuel Jackson torna finalmente a recitare dopo anni di imbarazzanti B-Movie e Christina Ricci offre una prova di rara sensibilità, disegnando un personaggio credibile e mai eccessivo, in un ruolo sempre sul filo del rasoio. Da antologia la scena in cui, durante una tempesta, Lazarus suona e canta \"Snake Black Moan \", il blues che da il titolo al film, con Rae accovacciata sul tappeto. Terzo protagonista del film è infatti il Blues: il film è inframezzato da brevi registrazioni d\'epoca del leggendario Bluesman Son House, che spiega che il blues non è solo musica, ma un qualcosa che ci parla di quello che succede durante l\'incontro tra un uomo e una donna, la condivisione del dolore e delle ferite dell\'anima. REVIEW (English)

In the music business, they say you have your whole life to write your first album ... and six months to write the second. The same goes for film -- after an incendiary feature film debut at Sundance in 2005 with Hustle and Flow, writer-director Craig Brewer returns to the big screen with Black Snake Moan. Like Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan has an incredibly simple pitch -- \"An older African-American bluesman helps a young white woman deal with her nymphomania. ...\" -- and, like Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan is about a lot more than what it seems to be about. And yet, Black Snake Moan is a lesser film than Hustle and Flow. It\'s not that Black Snake Moan is provocatively salacious, but rather that it\'s poorly structured.
Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson, looking old and beaten with a mouthful of low-cost dental work) has had better days. His marriage has fallen apart thanks to his wife\'s affair. He used to play the blues, but now he works a small field in Tennessee and earns spending money from his sales at a local market. Rae (Christina Ricci, whose hair, makeup, wardrobe and demeanor suggest someone on Brewer\'s production team has seen Elia Kazan\'s 1956 Southern-sex trash-classic Baby Doll one too many times) is very much in love with her boyfriend Ronnie (Justin Timberlake), but when he leaves to participate in the training for his National Guard posting, Rae\'s alone. And Rae\'s not good at being alone. When Ronnie leaves down the driveway, Rae runs after his ride until she collapses in a heap ... and Brewer quick-cuts to Rae bent over a hotel room sink, being used by another man, her hot breath fogging the mirror as she shudders and bucks. Ronnie\'s been gone for maybe....an hour.
After a backwoods party where booze and pills are the order of the night (and Brewer delivers one ace shot here, as the warm, summertime tones of a party shift to cool, clammy blue as the drugs take hold), Rae is abandoned, half-naked and battered, unconscious at the side of the road. Lazarus finds her. Lazarus takes her in. Soon, Lazarus gets a grip on Rae\'s issues -- primarily because of how desperately she tries to get a grip on him. Lazarus actually chains Rae to a radiator so she cannot leave his house and literally fuck any man who crosses her path. And they talk a little. About life. And about the blues.
Much as Hustle and Flow moved and grooved with the beats of hip-hop, Black Snake Moan dips and shakes with the rhythms of the blues. It even opens with a clip of legendary bluesman Son House explaining the medium: \"Ain\'t but one form of the blues ... Two people supposed to be in love and one or the other deceives the other. ...\" And the film\'s musical rhythms work with the feel of the movie -- gutbucket blues churning over the sight of front yards festooned with weeds and won\'t-run cars. But movies aren\'t just feel -- and in Black Snake Moan, you get a great demonstration of how structure and timing can make the difference in terms of a film\'s success or failure. The problem with Black Snake Moan isn\'t the incendiary nature of the material -- after the playschool platitudes of end-of-year limpidly liberal industrial-Hollywood productions like The Pursuit of Happyness and Bobby, I want to see an incendiary movie about race, sex and class in America, a movie that actually talks about those things and the things we think and feel but never speak or question.
The problem is simply one of time structure: The amount of time Lazarus ministers to Rae is just too short for her victory over her self (or rather, in fact, over her past) to mean anything. Hustle and Flow stuck with audiences, in part, because we watched Terrence Howard\'s Djay transform over a period of days and weeks from pimp to rapper and, more importantly, from amoral man to moral man. In Black Snake Moan, Lazarus and Rae (two names apparently on loan from a Symbology 101 course, but never mind) work through her problems in one long afternoon. During Lazarus\'s unconventional program of therapy, his preacher friend R.L. (John Cothran) drops by and is scandalized by the sight of Rae in bonds -- and legitimately fearful of what might happen if Lazarus and Rae\'s private interaction became public knowledge: \"Why is there a half-naked white woman chained up in your house?\" You could ask the same of Brewer -- why is there a half-naked white woman chained up in a black man\'s house if you\'re not going to use that to talk about race and sex, if you\'re not going to show us a real journey for these characters, if you\'re not going to give Christina Ricci and Samuel L. Jackson bigger acting challenges than nudity and bad wigs?
Black Snake Moan isn\'t a bad film; it\'s just not as well-conceived and well-structured as Hustle and Flow. There are half-formed hints of the movie Black Snake Moan might have been all through the film, but Brewer\'s elements of race and music and lust ... just remain elements. Even if you\'d never seen Hustle and Flow (and, frankly, if you haven\'t, you should), you\'d probably consider Black Snake Moan more striking than successful -- a film where the lead actress is literally wrapped in forty pounds of metaphor, and where lifetimes of abuse, addiction and regret can be cleared up over the course of less than a week with some moonshine and home cooking and 12-bar riffs. The title of the film derives from the 1927 Blind Lemon Jefferson song, while the plot is loosely based on George Eliot's 1861 novel Silas Marner. This is my first up-load, I used the FXM Dvd rip to make this using WinAVI converter. I tested this on my iPhone and the only thing is you have to use the zoom on itor it is going to be smaller then the full length of the screen but there is no noticiable quality difference. Sound seems to be spot on, and from scanning it seems that the video quality is pretty damn good. Comments would be nice, as well as CONSTRUCTIVE criticisim. If I get good reviews I will be doing more of these as I have quite a few movies on my computer. The film centers around two main characters: Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson), a deeply religious farmer and former blues guitarist, and Rae (Christina Ricci), a young sex addict. Lazarus\'s wife has left him for his brother, which has left him a bitter and angry man. Rae\'s boyfriend Ronnie (Justin Timberlake) leaves for deployment with the 196th Field Artillery Brigade, Tennessee National Guard, and in his absence she has bouts of promiscuity and drug use. During one of Rae\'s binges, Ronnie\'s friend Gill (Michael Raymond-James) tries to take advantage of her. She laughs at his advances, comparing him unfavorably with one of the local black men, and he severely beats her. Believing she\'s dead, Gill dumps Rae by the side of the road and drives away.

Lazarus discovers Rae in the road the next morning and brings her home to nurse her back to health. Over the course of several days, Rae, delirious with fever, occasionally wakes up and tries to flee from Lazarus. He ties her to the radiator with a heavy chain to keep her from running away. After Rae regains her wits, Lazarus announces that it is his spiritual duty to heal her of her sinful ways and refuses to release her until he does so. Rae makes several attempts to escape, but eventually comes to tolerate her position. Lazarus gives her a proper dress to wear, plays guitar for her, and feeds her home-cooked meals. Meanwhile, Ronnie returns to town after being discharged from the National Guard due to his severe anxiety disorder. While searching for Rae, who has disappeared, he meets Gill, who informs him that Rae cheats on him whenever he is out of town. Ronnie attacks Gill, steals his truck, and continues searching for Rae.

Lazarus\'s pastor and close friend, R.L. (John Cothran Jr.), visits Lazarus at his house and discovers that Lazarus is imprisoning Rae. The pastor tries to reason with Lazarus and the group shares a meal. In the morning, Lazarus frees Rae, having decided that he has no authority to pass judgment on her. Rae chooses to stay with Lazarus of her own will. Later, Rae and Lazarus take a trip into town, where Rae confronts her mother (Kim Richards) about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother\'s partner. Meanwhile, Lazarus has formed a budding romance with the local pharmacist, Angela (S. Epatha Merkerson). He plays a blues concert at a local bar, which Rae attends. Ronnie spots Rae and follows her to Lazarus\'s house. He confronts the pair with a pistol, but Lazarus talks him down and summons the pastor. Ronnie and Rae decide that they are stronger together than apart and get married. RECENSIONE (Italiano)
Tennessee Williams incontra l\'exploitation in questo \" Black snake moan \" , che resuscita un genere che sembrava ormai estinto, il Southern Gothic. Paradossalmente il tutto risulta meno pulp di quanto potrebbe sembrare a prima vista ( la locandina del film farebbe sbavare il Tarantino di Grindhouse ), grazie alla misurata regia di Craig Brewer e alla perfetta alchimia che si instaura tra i due protagonisti, Samuel Jackson e Christina Ricci, trasformandosi in una classica storia di redenzione. In una piccola cittadina del Tennessee Christina Ricci, quella che gli americani chiamerebbero white trash, è Rae, una ragazza con seri disturbi del comportamento sessuale dovuti ad una violenza subita nell\'infanzia, cosa tanto improbabile sul piano clinico quanto emotivamente coinvolgente per lo spettatore, mentre Samuel Jackson è Lazarus, un contadino appena lasciato dalla moglie, ex bluesman timorato di Dio. Quando il fidanzato di Rae ( un convincente Justin Timberlake ) parte per il servizio militare, la ragazza perde il suo unico punto di riferimento e si lascia andare ad una serie di eccessi. I due sono destinati ad incontrarsi una notte in cui Rae, picchiata e data per morta, viene abbandonata vicino alla casa di Lazarus il quale, per curare quella che considera una malattia, la incatena ad un termosifone. Arrivati a questo punto lo spettatore smaliziato inizia a temere il peggio, anche perché l\'atmosfera, ben servita da una fotografia sgranata alla Death Proof, è sudaticcia e fangosa quanto basta e, per citare l\'immortale Lynch di Wild at heart, \" Più calda dell\'asfalto della Georgia \". Invece il film sterza in maniera inaspettata, Lazarus assume un ruolo di padre vicario e ritrova proprio in Rae una ragione per vivere, mentre la ragazza, dopo un processo lungo e doloroso, forse riuscirà ad esorcizzare i propri demoni. Ottima la prova dei due protagonisti, ben assecondati da una regia non invasiva: Samuel Jackson torna finalmente a recitare dopo anni di imbarazzanti B-Movie e Christina Ricci offre una prova di rara sensibilità, disegnando un personaggio credibile e mai eccessivo, in un ruolo sempre sul filo del rasoio. Da antologia la scena in cui, durante una tempesta, Lazarus suona e canta \"Snake Black Moan \", il blues che da il titolo al film, con Rae accovacciata sul tappeto. Terzo protagonista del film è infatti il Blues: il film è inframezzato da brevi registrazioni d\'epoca del leggendario Bluesman Son House, che spiega che il blues non è solo musica, ma un qualcosa che ci parla di quello che succede durante l\'incontro tra un uomo e una donna, la condivisione del dolore e delle ferite dell\'anima. O drama � dirigido por Craig Brewer (do �timo “Ritmo de um Sonho”) e tem no elenco Samuel L. Jackson (de "Corpo Fechado" e "Serpentes a Bordo" e cantor/ator Justin Timberlake (de "Edison – Poder e Corrup��o" e ex-integrante da boy band NSYNC).

Para convencer o cineasta de que era perfeita para o papel, Christina Ricci mostrou-lhe diversas fotos sensuais. A atriz j� havia feito o teste e se sa�do bem, mas sentiu que ainda havia d�vida. “Mandei fotos de um ensaio que havia feito, eram realmente sexy”, confessou Ricci. Inhalt:
Nachdem ihn seine Frau betrogen und verlassen hat, sind die gl�cklichen Tage des gottesf�rchtigen Bluess�ngers Lazarus gez�hlt. Als er diese emotionale Talsohle durchschreitet, trifft er auf die halbnackte und �bel zugerichtete Nymphomanin Rae. In ihrer Not stehen sich die beiden unterschiedlichen Pers�nlichkeiten bei und es entsteht eine besondere Beziehung zwischen ihnen.

Kritik:
Trotz der fragw�rdigen und oftmals unglaubw�rdigen Geschichte ist Black Snake Moan durchaus sehenswert. So gelang es dem Regisseur seine Geschichte in tolle Songs und eine atmosph�rische Grundstimmung einzubetten. Aber auch Christina Ricci mit einer ihrer besten Karriereleistungen ist schon einen Blick wert.
