DESCRIPTION: The CD starts off with a positive message in "Gotta Get Your Heart Right." What it takes to be happy is really so simple. You have to love as a child would, completely and unconditionally. "Can't be afraid, what people say, live what you love, love everyday, with every beat be a little more childlike. Gotta get your heart right."
Jason Sellers co-wrote "The Only Thing I Care About," a heartbreaking song about a man watching the woman he loves marry another. Greenwood's signature exaggerated vibrato was one of the aspects of his singing I always found attractive, this song being a good example.
"I'll Be Missing You" is the only song on the CD penned by Greenwood himself. Originally, he had ended the song on a somewhat positive note about finding someone new. Upon hearing it the first time, his wife (Kim) explained when a woman and man split up; she wants to believe he will never replace her. As a result, he changed it. "The night closes in and I'm all alone. I guess there's only one thing left to do. I'll be missing you."
The title track isn't your typical love song; that's what I like about it. "You've been here before, standing by this river, where someone said he'd be your bridge across. He described a place, where love goes one forever, then left you one the shore alone and lost." The metaphoric lyrics in "Same River, Different Bridge," are what set it apart from the norm.
The final song on the CD, "I'm Trying," is a deeply emotional song. The man is trying to beat the demons of alcoholism, and his wife is trying hard not to think the worst of him when he comes in late one night. He says, "If I told you I'd been walking out in the dark night thinking, would you take as truth this alcoholic's word?" She replies, "I don't want to think you're lying, and though I haven't found the faith that I need.... I'm trying." While Greenwood has never lived through that kind of addiction, he delivers the song like he has.
