DESCRIPTION: Registry Scan & Clean
The Windows registry is a database repository for information about a computer's configuration. The registry keep growing when you use Windows. As it does so, it attracts obsolete and unnecessary information, and gradually becomes cluttered and fragmented. With the growing of the registry, it can degrade the performance of the whole system and cause many weird software problems. Use this product regularly to make the registry error free and boost your system performance!
Scanning: To start the registry scanning, click the "Check For Problems" button. After it scans your registry click the "View Details" link to see detailed information for each registry problem found. If you don't want to fix a specific problem, just clear the checkbox for it. (By default, the program fixes all problems it finds)
Reviewing the found problems: There are two ways to view the scanning result. If you want to view the result by category, you can click the "View Details" link on the right of each category. If you want to view all the found problems in a central place, you can click the "View All Problems" button on the bottom of the scanning result window.
Sort: You can sort the result by different ways by selecting the sort option in the window. You can sort by Key Location, Registry Value, ValueName or Problem Description.
Filter: You can filter the display of scanning result with the filter field. For example, if you only want to display the registry problem which contains text "Office10", then please input Office10 into the filter field and click the Go! button. This way, the window will only list the registry problems which contains the text Office10. The filter feature is very useful if you want to find all the problem registry items specific to some program.
In the problem details window, if you don't want to fix a specific problem, just clear the checkbox before it and then that item won't be fixed. (By default, the program fix all problems it finds)
Note: If you are on 64 bit Windows(x64), the product adds "32" to the left of the item if it is found in 32 bit view of registry, and it adds "64" to the left of the item if it is found in 64 bit view of registry.
Fixing: Click "Fix selected problems" to fix the problems found in the scanning process. (If you have cleared an item, then that item won't been fixed) (Note: An automatic backup will be created for the changes it makes. In case you need restore the fixed items, you can restore from the Restore Center in the "Registry Backup/Restore" panel)
Registry Backup/Restore
Most of the Windows internal configuration information is stored in the Registry. It is critical to have up-to-date, reliable backups of this information. You can backup/restore your Windows Registry here.
- Full Registry Backup: To do backup, click the Registry Backup button and you will be prompted to choose a file to store the backup. After that, the tool will backup your whole Windows Registry and store them in a single cab file you selected.
- Full Registry Restore: To restore the Windows Registry from an earlier backup by this program, click the Registry Restore button inside the program and select the cab file. You will be prompted to restart your Windows after the restore is about to be completed. Please restart the system upon request to complete the restore.
- Restore Center: Let you roll back the changes made by registry cleaner. An automatic backup is created each time registry cleaner makes changes to your registry. If you want to undo the changes, select the restore point in restore center and your registry state will go back.
Registry Defrag/Compact
During the normal operation of a Windows system, registry data is constantly being written to and removed from the registry. Over time this data becomes scattered within the registry file and when information is deleted from the registry holes are left which fragment the data within the registry. Registry compacting optimizes your registry by removing gaps and wasted space, thus improves the whole system performance.
To Defrag Registry/Compact Registry:
1. Click the "Defrag Registry" icon in the left navigation pane.
2. For Windows 98/ME: If you are using Windows 98 or Windows ME, click the "Compact/Defrag Registry" button and our product will first analyze the Registry for you. The whole process may take several minutes to complete. After it is completed, our product will prompt you to restart the computer to finish the compacting.
For Windows XP/2000/2003/NT4, please click the "Analyzing Registry" button and our product will first analyze your registry. After the analyzing is completed, it will show you the report and tell you the size of the current registry files and the estimated size after compacting/defragging. Please click the "Compact/Defrag Registry" button after reviewing the report and our product will defrag/compact the Registry for you. The whole process may take several minutes to complete. After it is completed, our product will prompt you to restart the computer to finish the compacting.
Note: Before defragging, I have 1% fragment in the registry. However, the 1% fragment still exists right after using Free Registry Defrag. Why does this happen?
The first time you use Free Registry Defrag, normally the defrag rate of your registry is more than 10%. After using our product and restart, you will find normally the fragment rate is less than 1% after compacting.
However, if your registry fragment rate is less than 2%, no matter how many times you compact your registry, the remaining fragments may won't go away and you will see the same analyzing result again and again (That means your registry fragment rate remains 1% or 2% even after compacting). This is not a problem of the product or the system and this is because Windows automatically adds some extra space to system hive of the registry every time of restarting. Don't worry for that. If the analyzing result shows your registry fragment rate is less than 2%, we suggest that your registry doesn't need to be compacted at this time.
Startup Organizer
There are many programs which will be automatically started when you start Windows. After your system has been used for years and you have many application installed, you will feel your Windows starts slower and slower. Part of the reason is that there are too many programs which will be started up automatically. Among them, some programs are no use at all and you will never need it. Further more, some Spyware/Adware and Trojan also put themselves in the startup list. It's a good habit to keep the startup items minimal and only start program which is really necessary.
Startup organizer view displays all programs which will be started when Windows starts up. By selecting the item in the list, you can view the detailed information about the item in the bottom pane. If you don't need a specific one during startup, just clear the checkbox before the item to disable it.
Note: If you are on 64 bit Windows(x64), the product will display the startup items for both the 64 and 32 bit of registry views. The items in 32 bit registry views will be displayed by adding a tag "32*" before the item.
Internet Explorer BHO Organizer
A BHO is an add-in program for Internet Explorer. Some BHOs are legitimate and add some cool functions to IE, but there are also some BHOs which are adware or spyware (They do things like monitor the websites you visit and report this data back to their creators) The following list displays all Browser Helper Object (BHO) which will be loaded when you use Internet Explorer (IE). If you don't want a specific one, just clear the checkbox before the item to disable it.
Tip: The safety column in BHO organizer will mark whether the specific BHO is safe based on our internal list. If a BHO is a known Spyware, Adware or Trojan in our database, we will mark it as dangerous in the safety column and it is strongly suggest you to uncheck that item in BHO organizer to disable it. There are 3 state for the safety column: Safe, Dangerous, Unknown. Safe means it is safe to use it and it is not Spyware/Adware or Trojan based on our database. Dangerous means that BHO is known Spyware/Adware or Trojan. Unknown means that BHO is not in our database yet.

Advanced Tools
The following pane contains some built-in tools in your Windows. You probably didn't notice them before, but these tools are very useful. Click the tool button you want and it will be launched automatically!.
System Information: System Information collects and displays system configuration information for local and remote computers. This includes information about hardware configurations, computer components, and software, including signed drivers and unsigned drivers. You can use System Information to quickly find the information that you need to resolve a system problem.
Disk Cleanup: Disk Cleanup helps free up space on your hard drive Disk. Cleanup searches your drive, and then shows you temporary files, Internet cache files, and unnecessary program files that you can safely delete. You can direct Disk Cleanup to delete some or all of those files.
Disk Defragmenter: Disk Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk, so that each occupies a single, contiguous space on the volume As a result, your system can gain access to your files and folders and save new ones more efficiently. By consolidating your files and folders, Disk Defragmenter also consolidates the volume's free space, making it less likely that new files will be fragmented.
Computer Management: Computer Management helps you manage local or remote computers using a single, consolidated desktop tool. It combines several Windows administration utilities into a single console tree, providing easy access to a specific computer's administrative properties and tools.
Device Manager: You can use Device Manager to update the drivers (or software) for hardware devices, modify hardware settings, and troubleshoot problems.
Windows Backup: Backup helps to protect data from accidental loss if your server's hardware or storage media fails. If the original data on your hard disk is accidentally erased or overwritten, or becomes inaccessible because of a hard disk malfunction, you can easily restore the data from the archived copy.
System Restore: System Restore is a component of Windows that you can use to restore your computer to a previous state, if a problem occurs, without losing your personal data files (such as Microsoft Word documents, browsing history, drawings, favorites, or e-mail). System Restore monitors changes to the system and some application files, and it automatically creates easily identified restore points. These restore points allow you to revert the system to a previous time. They are created daily and at the time of significant system events (such as when an application or driver is installed). You can also create and name your own restore points at any time.
Registry Editor: Registry Editor is an advanced tool for viewing and changing settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs. Windows stores its configuration information in a database (the registry) that is organized in a tree format. Although Registry Editor enables you to inspect and modify the registry, normally you do not need to do so, and making incorrect changes can break your system.
System Configuration Utility: The System Configuration utility automates the routine troubleshooting steps that Microsoft Product Support Services Support Professionals use when they diagnose system configuration issues. When you use this utility to modify the system configuration, you can select check boxes to eliminate issues that do not pertain to your configuration. This process reduces the risk of typing errors that you may make when you use a text editor such as Microsoft Notepad. You must be logged on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to use the System Configuration utility.
DirectX Diagnostic Tool: You can diagnose and resolve DirectX problems using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and the Multimedia and Games Troubleshooter. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool helps you test the functionality of DirectX, to diagnose problems, and to adjust the level of hardware support used by DirectX, which can be used to avoid issues on some multimedia drives.
